Amateur quality with grammatical and technical errors, and very poor explanations of concepts
An extremely amateur piece of writing. Problems include numerous grammatical errors, technical errors (such as describing the NULL value as a data type, and several coding errors), mentioning terms or concepts that have not yet been explained (such as primary keys, dropping tables) or in some cases are never explained (such as STORAGE clauses), and formatting code examples so that they are barely legible. The author has a large series of similarly titled books on many different topics, all with large numbers of suspiciously generic 5 star reviews which push them to the top of search results.

An amateur effort at best. I get the sense that the author started ...
This book is...well, disappointing to be honest. Grammatical errors and typos abound for one thing. For another thing, the sample syntax uses elements from previous topics in ways that were never covered or explained. This is especially true in later chapters. There are no exercises and no projects that tie multiple concepts together. In short, it's poorly written and incomplete. An amateur effort at best.I get the sense that the author started out with a nice vision, put together an ambitious outline, and then got overwhelmed and burned out writing the first draft. So he just submitted the first draft to the publisher. And the publisher didn't even run it by a copy editor. Heck, it may even be self-published. Anyway, if you couldn't already tell, my advice is don't waste your money with this one.( For what it's worth, I also bought a copy of Head First SQL at the same time. The contrast is night and day, boys and girls. Head First is much more money, but I don't feel stupid for buying that one.)

The gateway guide to understanding SQL and all the possibilities!
Programming has always scared me, and SQL DB was the worst, but as part of my profession I have to know enough to understand what its all about, this beginner's guide did the trick, it approached the subject very gently from the perspective of a total "noob", It explains the terms, and basics and gets into just enough details that I would not lose my head. It's not detailed enough to make me an expert SQL programmer, but I'm no longer scared or frustrated as soon as I hear its name.and It opened the possibility for me to study more by myself, from all the youtube videos and tutorials out there on the net!!

SQL for beginners
I have been looking for a good book about SQL that’s why I bought this book from kindle. I want to start a small business that includes a lot of creating databases, creating and changing tables, formatting data and performing SQL. I was a beginner in this area and this book guides me the right way. I am quite impressed by this book about SQL written by Andrew Johansen. I am very satisfied. The book is very helpful and informative. It's very easy to understand and straightforward. If you are a novice like me then I will recommend this book to you. Thanks Andrew.

An excellent reference book on SQL.
The company that I am working with is planning to install a database management system and the knowledge about SQL that I have learned from this book is very relevant. This book is well-written as far as conveying the basics of SQL to the reader is concerned. My limited knowledge about computer programming has not hampered in any way my learning about SQL through this book. Admittedly. it would take a lot of practice to master SQL but this book could assist me greatly in my own way of learning. This is truly an excellent reference book on SQL for beginners like me.

A really good SQL reference
I found this book to be a very comprehensive guide for beginners of how to manage databases using SQL. The first chapters explain to the novice reader what a database is, and builds them up to an understanding of the use of SQL in manipulating databases for the desired use. The subsequent chapters contain most of the SQL commands needed to create useful tables as well as how to manipulable data in the database. This book is an excellent reference to keep handy for the beginner, and advanced SQL user.

Save your money!
Yeah so I'm really feeling embarrassed and a bit angry about this purchase. The positive reviews here are fake and I didn't take the time to look closely at them before wasting my money on this "book". This is a self-published pamphlet (print-on-demand) that isn't much more than the first week's class notes from a SQL101 class. Don't believe the positive reviews, spend your money on a book with some depth, and my lesson is to look more closely at the timing and structure of positive reviews in the future. Amazon needs to up their game with fake reviews, I got caught on this one.

With this guide, of course I haven't turned into an expert but I've gained a lot of knowledge which I'm practicing and using this book as a reference guide! The technical terms and aspects are well explained along with practice database.Got the much needed help from this guide and Thanks to Andrew!
