I've always liked "the look" and stories of Downton Abbey, the companion books are "must haves" for anyone who's a fan of the series.One reviewer writes that there's not much information that isn't in the first two books as a complaint- I like the way that "Behind the Scenes" is just that- a look at what goes on behind the camera. There's some repetition of detail from the other books but a lot of new background material that a fan, or even a person just interested in the period, will really appreciate. Downton is a good series and a book like this really helps you to appreciate the enormous amount of work involved.Behind the Scenes doesn't really give anything away on the upcoming 4th season (a few "who is that?" photos is about all) - it just covers all four seasons with a great amount of detail.If you've already gotten The World of Downton Abbey and The Chronicles of Downton Abbey get this book, you'll love it too. The same level of detail and beautiful photography- any fan will want this book!

AWESOME BOOK for Downton Abbey's fansIt delves into the secret workings behind the show (the kitchen, the staff, the waredrobe and jewelary, the make-up, the hair, filiming on different locations )It gives so many details and funny quotes by the directors, the writer, and the actors and how they felt acting in such a magnificant castle like HighclereI discovered so many things (the scenes in the kitchen and staff were filmed at Ealing Studios and were reconstructed \ some of the ladies' dresses where some vintage pieces recreated and remade\ the new blender was a vintage piece ordered from ebay , a really old one from the twenties!! The dog Isis was so in love with the actor Allen Leech that he was told not to pay attention to her or she would leave Lord Granthem and run to him lool !! )It was full of details and pictures and mapsits like a complete guideIt also shows how much hard work the staff and cast go through to produce such a beautiful showI highly recommend it !

Some reviewers thought this contained too much material from previous books, but this is my first one on Downton Abbey, and I think the book is spectacular. I love the writing, which is brief but clear and effective, and the photos are marvelous. I love the voices of the characters and the actors that come out of the pages. Each segment of the series is looked at in different chapters, so the reader gets a glimpse at locations, behind the scenes, at the food and its preparation, at the clothing, at the jewellery. This book was so worth the money. I already have a waiting list of friends who want to see it. Hum! Shall I lend it or shall I gloat that I have it:)

I am a huge fan of Downton Abbey, and received this as a birthday present. It is awesome! I have read the other companion Downton Abbey books, but what I like about this one is that it gives you more of a behind the scenes look than the others. You get to see the prop department, costume department, and much more. I learned lots of insider facts I didn't know. The pictures are beautiful, and the costume section is especially stunning. I am a huge fan of the costumes, and there were several spreads that highlighted some of my favorite costumes (like the wedding dresses). There is plenty of reference to the fourth season as well. This is a great buy for any avid Downton fan!

I loved this book, and bought it after the series ended. I learned so much more about the characters and actors from this book that I would not have known before. A great read and good pictures.

I loved all the ‘insider’ info that you wouldn’t ordinarily get unless you read a book like this!

Interesting and with good behind the scene pictures.

This book seemed like it was from season 3... NOTHING in the way of season 4 AT ALL :( For as much as I love Mr Bates, I wanted MORE OF HIM... but, alas, he was only shown for a few pages and mostly in jail. STILL LOVE THIS, but would have liked to have known that it was not CURRENT -- when I saw it as a "NEW" and suggested product, I assumed it was from season 4... but, clearly, it's not. Excellent book, gorgeous photography. My copy showed up warped, but Amazon gave me a $5 credit for the damage (since I was unwilling to return it.)

Super book for Downton fans, very well written with loads of interesting information.

It was very interesting. My only complaint about it is that it would have been better if the print of it were a bit larger. It was so small I couldn't read it for very long at a time, even though I would have liked to do that. I really enjoyed the pictures, especially the ones that showed how the scenes were filmed. I now own 4 of the Downton Abbey books, including "The Unofficial Downton Abbey Cookbook," "The World of Downton Abbey" and "The Chronicles of Downton Abbey." I have enjoyed all of them very much, althougH there was a fair amount of repetition between the two main D.A. books. ("The World of..." and The Chronicles of....")Since I am very interested in earlier times and in acting as well, this book really spoke to me!
