Warm boots for cold weather
My feet get cold, really cold. After the last round of bitter cold, I decided to get the best pac boots that I could afford. After some research, I found that Baffin seems to be among the best. I prefer to buy shoes locally but could not find these at any of the local outdoors stores. Amazon came to the rescue! I normally wear a size 11 shoe but wanted to make sure that I could wear these with thick socks and not have them too tight, so I purchased these in a size 12. I was a little concerned that they could be a little too big. When they arrived, I took them out of the box and examined them carefully. The insulation is thick - very thick - and if anything, I thought they would be difficult to get on. However, the inner lining is really smooth, and my foot slid right in without any difficulty. I tried them again, but with a thicker sock and I had the same easy entry. The size 12 was perfect with thicker socks as expected, but they are even snug enough to wear with normal thickness socks as the soft foam layer cuddles your foot. Let's try them out... I hopped on to my open-cab compact utility tractor to clear a little snow (actually a lot). I only spent an hour in this session, but normally my feet would start to feel a little chilly in this time. With these on, my feet actually felt comfortably warm after a short time. I have no doubt that these would keep my feet comfortable in extreme cold as well. These are really comfortable, well-insulated, well-made boots designed for cold weather.

Northern NH girls love mens bootss!
When you get these boots, the box alone will let you know you're about to see and feel that you've made the right purchase. If you've struggled to find winter boots that WILL provide everything and I mean everything, the fit (if you up size it as they do run small) the warmth, water resistance, traction, light weight, and a stylish look??? Then STOP SHOPPING!, because you have finally found the right winter boots. The removable liner is amazing and of high quality you'll love immediately. In my experience with a removable liner which are a must for me. Remove the liner from the boot, then slip it on and then insert you & the liner into the boot to get a better fit and foot adjustment once in the boot for the first time and then it should be good after that. (That's just me but do you of course.) The liner has a few layers and is the perfect thickness and wicks away moisture. Women's vs. men's sizes are different, so ladies know your mens size and up size from there. Love the quick full boot pull laces and top pull sinch lace for the added extra to keep the weather out. The exterior material is rugged & the extra thick. The reinforced toe area makes for extra protection from the terrain. Though not needed and just my preference, I may condition the leather to keep them extra flexible over time. The inner sole is pretty comfy but if you up size you could add a gel insert. They are so light weight you can walk without the clobby boat anchor feeling and haven't dragged or scuffed the bottoms, truly light weight. After walking in the snow and it melted off & the water beaded & never got in the boot and my feet stayed dry and warm. I have no problem with all day wear and if my feet got to warm it was a quick fit to just losen both the boot and top cuff laces and allow my feet to vent a while. I have no issue driving a vehicle while wearing them like some reviews noted. Thank you BAFFIN for coming to Amazon so I can find your amazing boots, my search is over and I'll be back for more in the future your "Snow Monsters" are so deserving of 5 stars.

Warm, bulky, don't know where -94F rating comes from
I bought these boots for a trip to Fairbanks, Alaska in January. Over the 8 days we were there the temperatures ranged from -3F (-19C) to -44F (-42C). I wore these boots when I was going to stay outside for more than a few minutes. This included a few nights outside watching the northern lights at -20 to -35F with strong winds, and dog sledding at -40F. On our first day we had a 2 hour reindeer walk at -25F. This was maybe 1/4-1/2 miles over the 2 hours, so we were mostly standing still. I needed toe warmers. Later on the trip we did a 2 1/2 mile hike to a glacier in -15F temps with a little wind. In total we were outside around 3 hours, including some time inside the glacier cave where temps were probably in the +20s. I used toe warmers but probably didn't need them as we were moving continuously. I generally have cold feet, so I would put the comfort rating on these around +20F to -5F if you're not active, and maybe an extra 10 degrees lower if you're active. I don't know where the -94F temperature rating came from. Maybe that's for someone who usually has sweaty feet + foot warmers + vapor barier + sprinting and then only for a matter of a few minutes. Interesting comparison, during the dog sledding at -40 the operator had me wear bunny boots. These are the old military surplus boots rated to -60F. While my feet were not warm at -40, they weren't freezing either. But those boots were also oversized. Probably a 12 or 13 and I'm a 10. Either way, bunny boots outperformed these Snow Monsters, but the Baffins were much more comfortable and had better traction. I tried around a dozen different snow boots for this trip and these were the warmest. The next closest was the Baffin Tundra. Both boots are bulkier, but the Tundra are bulkier than these. There's no way I could drive a car with either on. Overall I'm happy with this purchase. They got the job done for my trip, and it's unlikely I'll ever experience temperatures that low again. Honestly, how often will most of us see temps that low? And if you live in those climates you probably have better resources than my Amazon review.

These boots are incredible, bomb proof build quality, warm and surprisingly light. Given all this, despite the high ticket price they're great value for money, I can't see how you could get a bigger bang for buck. Unless you're planning a trip to Pluto I can't imagine having to wear more than 1 pair of socks so they also fit true to size. I'm a UK 10, bought the US 11 and they fit perfectly.

My wife was looking for a warm boot she can wear on really cold days here in Ottawa (think -20 to -30C) but could also use to go snowshoeing, play in snow with our son, etc. She has wider feet and vast majority of women's winter boots were too narrow AND not warm enough. Men's boots on the other hand both fit her well AND featured extra insulation. We must have looked at over two dozen women's and men's boots in this search and at the end of the day she settled on these Snow monsters. Here's why: - These boots feature a -70C rating but despite being rated for such low temperatures they're not as heavy, stiff or even bulky as many other boots. Her big problem with warm men's boots was just how stiff and bulky many of them were. For example, these boots are actually more flexible than Baffin Crossfire boots that are "only" rated to -40C! - These boots are well-made. Seemingly better than other Baffin boots even - They have a good combination of being comfortable yet tight enough to walk long distances or use with snowshoes. My wife tried both the black and brown colors of this boot. The brown pair looked a LOT more rustic than the black one. She went with the black as it's a good cross-over for wear in the city on really cold days and out for snow hikes. Brown pair would likely show any scuffs less and would make for a better work boot. So far the boots have done great in mild weather (around 0C) remaining completely dry despite being worn for an hour in deep snow. They weren't too warm for these days, which is a great sign. My wife only tried these boots for a short period of time in temperatures below -20C so it's a bit too early to say how they'll do during prolonged exposure but they definitely inspire complete confidence (I'll update my review if there are any problems) P.S. The only thing you need to know is that the snow gaiters at the top of the boot make it hard to tuck jeans or regular pants into the boot and they likely won't be wide enough to go over the boot either. This is not an issue if you're using snow pants with a base layer since your base layer easily goes into the boot and snow pants go over it .
