Q: Can I leave this plugged in to use overnight? Or does it have to charge and then unplug to work? How long does the charge last?

The lamp works only on battery power after a full recharge. The battery life is about 6 hours. It will not work 24/7 plugged in. When you plug in the charge cord the lamp auto shuts off.

Q: What type of charging cable use?

USB to mini connector which mates to the device.

Q: How long does it take to fully charge?

It doesn't tell you when it's fully charged, we haven't charged it yet since christmas. It also has a timer of how long you want it on. We use 30-45 min.

Q: Is this bright enough to be a reading light on a nightstand?

It isn't bright enough to read by, in my opinion. More like mood lighting.
