Will the arbor tech mini grinding wheel attach to this grinder?

Probably, but reconsider buying the machine. Its not designed for heavy work. Consider getting a flex shaft machine instead. If you are going to use it for long periods you could either burn i tup or the final gear drive could fail.

can you take the guard off?

Yes...but it's not recommended. This thing is like a miniature chain saw, and the guard protects you from flying chips and worse if you lose control.

Very unlikely - perhaps with a soft rock and one of the sanding heads. I did not have a satisfactory experience with this tool.

How many watt motor and it is stronger than a dremel tool or about the same?

I don't know the wattage of this tool. I have a Dremel 4000 that I use constantly and will continue to use. But this tool coversion more area faster and depending on which head you use cab be much more aggressive than the Dremel. I use them for very different applications. I mostly use the Merlin for roughing out carvings or sanding large areas quickly. I use the Dremel for intarsia detail work. I hope this helps.

Great little mini grinder!

Bought this Merlin mini grinder for my wood working partner who loves it. It really adds to her collection of wood working tools that gives variety to her art. The sanding grinding discs and chain saw discs are easy to change, and it is light weight, no hand fatigue. Be sure to wear your face mask when using this tool as it really chews up wood and spits it out.

Might be Able to Carve Balsa Wood

Was excited to get this unit. First impression, looked and felt like a solid little unit. The second I applied it to wood (cherry, so not too hard) it stalled. And I mean, it took very little pressure to stall it. It didn't matter what wheel I put on it. Even the chain saw wheel stalled. There is a very tinny sounding rattle in the head. So I don't know if I got a defective unit or if it's just really more of a kids toy. I would hope not for the money.Also, they seem to have made an "improvement". Instead of a built in locking mechanism, they included a right angle plastic bracket to lock the arbor when changing wheels. How long do you think it will take before most people will lose this? Also, a cheap canvas bag instead of a fitted plastic case. As least with a case you could organize your bracket and your cutting wheels instead of shoving them all in zip lock bag.

Great customer service!!

Love this new tool. Broke it the first time I used it. Accidentally pushed the lock button while I was trying it out. The lock button is not in a good spot!! I think it needs a removable clip on it to prevent it from being depressed unless you are changing the accessory. Would have given a 4 star but I contacted the company and they sent me a new one!! So I gave them FIVE stars. Great customer service.

Quality control is definitely lacking

Worked great for about three weeks. The motor burned out yesterday. I am a hobbyist and would consider my use of this tool as very light duty. I carved four spoons and two bowls before the tool failed. For the price I would expect a lot more. I also purchased the gweniveire sanding system from another vendor. The first time I turned it on, one of the chucks flew off. The power button also does not work intermittently.

Failed after 20 hours use. Motor spins, not shaft.

The media could not be loaded. Love the tool. Gets hot. And then it failed. Like some other reviews, not up to serious carving work.
