How does the card game compare to the actual tabletop RPG? I'm a huge fan of the RPG.

Pathfinder the card game has elements of a tabletop RPG. You have characters and scenarios are somewhat story driven. If you want a single player RPG, this is perhaps as close as you might come. Due to the nature of predefined cards, you will be limited on story and imagination.

Which is a better buy? Pathfinder Adventure Card Game or Lord Of The Rings: The Card Game?

both are very different, both very good. I prefer the lord of the rings card game but only just. value for money? The pathfinder card game feels like it has more in it for your money. Lord Of The Rings: The Card Game is very hard and you will loose alot but that's part of the fun.but both are great

How many sessions of game play would you expect this to satisfy players before they feel the need to buy expansions?

This is a little different than your standard base board game that has expansions. The base game comes from 8 scenarios. The idea is that upon completing one scenario, you go on to the next one in the sequence. Each expansion (Adventure Deck) contains 5 more scenarios in the sequence. So if you want to play through the whole game, you would eventually buy all 5 additional Adventure Decks.You're guaranteed at least 8 play sessions with the base game. It could be more if you don't beat each scenario on your first try. You can replay scenarios that you beat, but you don't get to apply the character bonuses more than once for a scenario. If you want to continue leveling up your character, you'd need to pick up the next Adventure Deck.
