P Tec Products Low Profile Vent Brown

This P-tec vent cover does the job and looks decent once installed, however, it is made kind of cheaply and may not work for all applications. I used this to replace a louvered dryer vent cover that kept getting clogged with lint and would stick open creating a draft in cold weather. First of all, the components of this vent cover were just thrown into a box with no packing material, so the metal pipe arrived dented and partially smashed. The metal pipe is very thin-walled, so it was not difficult to bend it back into shape. Being that there aren't any installation instructions and the description really doesn't specify, my original intention was to just use the plastic vent cover piece on the existing 4" metal duct that is on my house. This was not possible because the plastic vent cover is designed to snap on to the included metal pipe, which is just slightly smaller than a regular 4" metal duct. The included metal pipe will slide snugly inside a regular 4" metal duct and then the plastic vent cover snaps on to the end of it. Also, I did have to position the vent cover with the top slightly further out from the wall than the bottom for the lid to close completely with no air movement. This is probably because of the slope on my existing dryer vent pipe, but wanted to mention it.Overall, it looks decent and functions as advertised once installed. It has reduced the cold air draft compared to the louvered vent and seems less likely to become clogged with lint. The current price ($14+) seems a little steep for what you get, but could be okay as long as it holds up over time. The dryer vent location on our house is somewhat weather protected, so I think it should be alright, but with the lightweight plastic materials I could see there being possible issues if it were installed somewhere with greater exposure to the elements.

I installed this product about a month or so ago, and it works just great! I've got an older brick home and replaced my old vent in hopes that the chipmunks would stop coming into the house. The vent seals pretty well when it's not operating and that's what I needed. I only needed construction adhesive to attach it to the bricks and it seems to be staying put. My only issue was the seller. I had ordered a brown vent because of my brick house but alas, they shipped a white one. I know it's difficult to differentiate between brown and white. I was just too lazy to send it back.

After 1.5 Years: I reduced the rating from 5 stars to 2 because the very then backplate is now warping. When it warps it prevents the flap from seating properly, and it no longer fully closes. The flaps need to be light weight, but there is no excuse for the flimsy backplate.I found that the hinge links on the inner cover appeared to have shrunk, preventing it from closing properly. I removed the inner cover, then adjusted the mounting screws carefully to get the outer cover to close completely. I also had to remove some material from the cover at the top to keep it from touching before the bottom part.Original Review:The vent has a good feature not listed in the description - a magnetic latch that holds the outer cover closed securely.There are no instructions included, but you can find them on the NoPestVent dot com website. The site is also helpful in determining which of the three vent types is best suited to your application. For example this "low profile" vent is narrower than the typical square-shaped vent. This dimension combined with the beveled corners may leave exposed something your old vent used to hide. They have another style available if you need to hide a larger area. I would rate this five stars if it were supplied with instructions and if it were packaged in a way that did not damage the duct tube. It comes with the vent tube folded nearly flat around the vent, then wrapped tight with some sort of adhesive backed bubble wrap that is very difficult to remove. The wrapping process caused a crease in the duct tube that had to be worked out before it could be formed into a tube. Also, the end of the tube was dented and required considerable reshaping before it would fit into the vent. This damage did not occur during shipment, as there was no damage to the shipping package.

Easy to install and it definitely reduced the drafts. Last winter the bathroom floor around the dryer was always cold but have not noticed it once since installing this vent cover. It looks nice from the exterior also.

Product as described. Low profile and looks nice on the outside of the house that is painted brown siding. The double doors open easily when the dryer is running. Only disappointment was no inside wall plate as shown in the picture to frame and support the pipe on the inside wall. Other than that pleased with the vent.

I really like this. The outer door has a tiny magnet which helps keep the door closed under small air pressures, such as from the stack effect or an AC supply. I doubt it’s as air tight a spring loaded vent, buts it’s going to have much less resistance to airflow.

This would be a decent product if it were not so flimsy.All of it is THIN and I would have returned it except that'it was Saturday evening and I needed to get the newexhaust for the dryer going. I have searched all over fora decent vent that will keep mice out and LAST. .

Easy to install-ingenious design. I has trouble with birds trying to build nests in my dryer vent. I ended up putting wire mesh over the old dryer vent, but I had to keep removing it and cleaning it because dryer lint would build up on it. I live in the country, so mice, lizards and birds all seem to want to live in my dryer vent. The NPVB No-Pest Vent should stop that from ever happening. I've had it installed for several months now with no issues, and my clothes dry a lot faster because the vent isn't partially blocked with my makeshift wire mesh that I put on my old vent.
