SDAR Non-contact Infrared Thermometer Instant-read Digital Temperature Gun with Laser Sight and Backlit LCD, Battery Included, Measure Range (-58F to 1202F / -50C to 650C)

I have four different Infrared thermometers plus I borrowed another from a friend - so I have a good bit of experience with several different brands/models. This SDAR unit is my least favorite of all. First of all, I need to measure temperatures in the 1100 degree F range. This SDAR thermometer advertises that it can read up to 1202F, but it only has three digits to the left of the decimal, and a much smaller digit to the right of the decimal for displaying tenths. So measuring above 999.9F looks sort of odd because the display drops the decimal and the fourth digit is much smaller. I have measured up to 1045F with this meter.The worst function of this SDAR unit is that it does not remember the C or F setting - the default setting is C - and it switches off after 7 seconds. So every single time I take a temperature reading, I have to switch the unit to F. Every. Single. Time. (The other units I have do not do this). Also, it does not remember if you have the laser switched on or off. But strangely, it does remember if you have the backlight feature switched on or off.I would say the best feature of this unit is the backlight - it is brighter than most of the other units I have.

It functions properly, each time you pull the trigger you have to change the Celsius/Fahrenheit setting to Fahrenheit, and turn on the laser.

Works well just as described . It's great to be able to check the temp of a surface with the pull of a trigger

It does work but would be better if it retained settings like F instead of C for temps.

Works perfectly and as described. Perfect for taking the temps in my gecko enclosure!
