Astoundingly effective, whisper quiet, highly recommend.
I bought a $90 tower purifier which took a long time to clear the air and which was noisier than a jet engine. I lived with it, but when the Canadian wildfire smoke descended upon us in NYC, I loaned it to my downstairs neighbor, who had elderly and special needs family members, and I ordered this as a replacement. It's more than double the cost of the other unit, but based on the reviews from the New York Times and other review sites, the quality and performance are well worth the investment. So I splurged and got this unit. While I was waiting for it to arrive, the air pollution got really bad and I had been coughing, eyes were watering and I was forced to wear an N-95 mask at home just to breathe. When the purifier finally arrived, I turned it on and the sensor light went red to indicate the high level of contamination in the air. I opened the doors of every room of my apartment to let it go to work and after a few minutes at full power, the light turned from red to purple, and about 5 minutes later, it went blue. I took my mask off and the air was pure and fresh. It is an absolute superhero at cleaning a large volume of air very quickly. I was thoroughly impressed. The sensor is very sensitive and will turn purple if you are just cooking something that releases strong scents into the air (sauteeing onions and peppers, etc.) and it goes red if you're burning anything. Another upside is that my kitchen smoke detector has stopped going off if I'm grilling something, because the purifier keeps the air quality under control. At the highest setting, it's about as loud as my old purifier at the middle setting, which is to be expected, as you would only set it that high to quickly clear out a room or if there's smoke from cooking, etc. But the massive volume of clean air it blows out in exchange for that short term annoyance is staggering. However, at the 2nd highest setting it is barely detectable, producing a pleasant, white noise background sound that you quickly tune out. It makes falling asleep very easy, and if you have the air conditioner on you can't hear the purifier at all. At it's lowest setting, it blows out a nice stream of air but is utterly and completely silent. You couldn't even hear it at night time in a small, quiet room with the door shut. Amazing. They say you never regret buying the best. They know what they're talking about. This is worth every penny and then some. 5 stars, all day.

Worth its weight in gold — still going strong after 1+ year!
I’ve had this for about 1 year and 4 months now, and it is WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD. I’ve researched and tested a lot of air purifiers, and this one is by far the most effective for everyday living. Setup & Design Setup took less than 5 minutes — just unbox, pop in the filters, and it’s ready to run. Performance & Odor Removal The HEPA filtration and air quality sensor are excellent. I have a sensitivity to smells, and this purifier clears out odors shockingly fast — my roommate’s strong odors or cooking smells are gone within about 60 seconds, no exaggeration. The air feels cleaner, fresher, and lighter within minutes of turning it on. Noise & Everyday Use On the lowest setting, it’s whisper-quiet, perfect for sleep or background use. Medium and high are noticeable but not disruptive, especially given how much air they move. Auto mode reacts quickly to changes (like frying food or candles), and Eco Mode shuts the fan off when the air is already clean, saving energy. Filters & Maintenance The pre-filter catches a lot of dust and hair, and it’s easy to clean. Filter replacements aren’t the cheapest, but they last 6–12 months with regular vacuuming, and the filter indicator takes the guesswork out of when to swap. Value For the price, it’s a great balance of performance and cost. It easily handles medium rooms, and unlike some “smart” purifiers, the features here actually work as promised. Overall: If you’re sensitive to odors or allergens, this purifier is a game-changer. It’s quiet, efficient, and genuinely improves air quality in minutes. The fact that mine has lasted over a year with heavy daily use makes it even more of a win.

Very weird factory/chemical smell (Updated after two weeks)
It works amazing, purchased to help with capturing vape/THC smoke (specifically concentrates) in my gaming room, clears up any type of smoke pretty great and I puff like a dragon lol. The purifier is very light compared to other purifiers I’ve had and blows very strong, filters seem okay not super snug but just enough. My only downside about this product is that it leaves this weird chemical or factory smell while in use which is why I’m giving it a 3 star, I’m hoping it will clear up with in the return period as it really bothers me, but is a good purifier. luckily I don’t sleep in my gaming room so get to have a break from the smell, maybe my nose is just that sensitive but I will update soon to report if the smell goes away or not. Update Feb 14th 2026: Its been about a couple weeks now with continuous daily use, it helps capture a lot of air pollutants and I am not having to dust off my electronics every other week, my PC seems to be dust free for the most part and seems like i wont be needing to clean/wipe it once or twice every month (I have some bad OCD lol). My lady also noted it helps tone done the aroma of marijuana when i have friends over, it doesn't linger no where as long as it did compared to no air purifier, now don't go thinking it will eliminate the smell entirely in mere minutes, it still takes a bit to rid the odor of any type of smoke aroma, but alot quicker compared to no air purifier. Now for the chemical/factory smell. After leaving the purifier set to either setting 1 or eco mode while away from home, the chemical/factory smell took a couple days for to dissipate that I noted in my initial review, the air now smells fresh and clean now. I also used the ionizer feature, but after prolonged use I felt like it kind of added some weird layer of dirty air and my lungs weren't feeling it after being cooped up in my gaming room for hours and hours, with a bit of research id recommend using this feature for a short period of time, it does increase cleaning power by using charged ions to clump particles for easier filtration, should generally be left off or used sparingly. While it may boost cleaning power, they often produce small amounts of ozone, a lung irritant that can trigger asthma, this is why i had the sensation of a dirty layer of air. Rely on the HEPA filter for primary cleaning and use the ionizer only for quick, occasional refreshing. other than that switching rating from a 3 to 5, not every product can be perfect right out of the box, overall satisfied with my purchase thus far. will update if any issues arise with the product.

Quiet and effective; keep ionizer off for normal use
UPDATE: Yesterday our backyard door was unintentionally left open. When I found it, our neighbors had already gone through their dose of nicotine and it smelled like they finished it in our house. Fantastic. I closed the room off (165 sqft), cranked the fan speed to 3, turned the ionizer on, and set the timer for 1 hour. After 2 hours (vacating the area for an equal time as the ionizer is used) I walked in and the lingering smoke smell was no more. Original: First I'd like to point out that the manual does not give any instructions about the ionizer. What it is for, when to use it, how it can be harmful in some situations - nothing. The only reference is showing where the button is. I stumbled across this information before purchasing and bought the Coway AP-1512HH because there was a switch for the ionizer. However, I did expect some instructions as to when and how to use the ionizer to minimize harmful side effects. Please research this before purchasing if you have respiratory problems or using this around babies. You CAN use the ionizer option safely, but should not be in the room (or house for extra measure) while in use and for the same amount of time after it has been turned off. With all that said, I am still very pleased with this purchase. I bought it over competitors for 3 reasons. The first is the option to turn off the ionizer. Most air purifiers do this however but the switch meant I could compare it to non-emitting filters as well. The second is the cost over a 4 year use. After years of use, the savings after totalling up filters and product was $100 at a minimum. I compared it to Winix 5500-2, Levoit LV-PUR131S, and Honeywell HPA300. Winix filters are very expensive and cost twice as much as the Coway after 4 years. Honeywell was on the other end of the spectrum but the upfront cost of the product kept it costly. The third is the noise level being 3 dB lower than the rest. I plan to use it around my newborn, so this became a factor. This is not to say the other products are loud. The fact it lined up with the cost layout simply provided more reason to purchase it. Even at the 2nd fan setting, I kept checking with my hands if it was actually running. It was and it did not disturb my wife nor I throughout the night (set up 2 ft away from the footboard). Now my anecdotal evidence for its effectiveness has to be understood and taken as that - anecdotal. One night of sleep is a terrible data set. But I felt such a difference the next day that I wanted to share right off the bat. I had the Coway running for 3 hrs on the medium setting (ionizer off) before we went to bed. For the past weeks, I have been waking up with irritated eyes and a very scratchy throat (NOT COVID). I actually would wake my wife up throughout the night when scratching my throat in my sleep. After 7 hrs of sleep, I woke up with barely a scratch in my throat and my eyes were totally fine. All other factors remained the same, so I'm impressed with the change literally overnight. My next steps will be to run the filter before leaving for work and a few hours before we go to bed. Will update the review if anything significant changes. TL;DR - Add to cart. Research if ionizers fit your need before turning the option on.

Quiet and simple to remove filters to clean.
I think it's working as advertised. It is incredibly quiet at its lowest setting, and it largely doesn't seem to react to my air except for one time when we were cooking something and particulates were likely created. The design is easy to work with as the door and filter removal is incredibly intuitive and simple. I was worried it was going to be difficult. I give this four stars as there is a slight rattle to the fan. I have to be sitting next to it to hear it, but I know it's there. When operating at medium or high settings, I can't hear the rattle over the fan which is a nice white noise at medium. High is loud, but not obnoxious. I mostly just run it on the low setting. Low power draw as well.

EXCELLENT for drowning out outside noise! Lasted 4 years.
I’ll touch on the purification, but the reason I have this, and why it was suggested to me - is for a sleeping aid! That is ALL I use it for and it is EXCELLENT for such. I was miserable and tried earplugs and white noise through my speaker. My brain knew that was artificial. This thing did the trick! My savior! It has 3 speed levels. Which, I’m guessing the lowest levels is what they’re saying is more quiet than an air conditioner. Level 3 is absolutely NOT more quiet than an AC. This isn’t about it justing be loud enough to drown out noise. I’m pretty sure it’s about FREQUENCY. Imagine the sound of an air conditioner, but a little louder and giving you a slight breeze to make your room just a SMIDGE cooler. If there are cars, birds, noisy AC condenser units outside, or people talking outside, turn this thing immediately makes them DISAPPEAR like magic. I think it’s got to do with the airwave frequencies. It brings your mental attention to your room because the purifier sound is in your room. So it keeps you in the present and kind of acts as a sensory deprivation when it comes to audio. It also makes light rain sounds disappear AND thunder!!! While not being disturbing. It’s soothing to me. I had this thing for 4 years until the fan gave out. Using it almost every night. Level 2 will only drown out the most subtle nuances like light wind and things in the distance. Sometimes I use it if it’s a quiet night. But level 3 is what I usually use to really help me knock out. If it’s off or level 2 and I wake up to some noise outside or wind chimes, I just get up and punch the 3 and boom it’s all gone and I’m back to bed. 😴 As for purifying the air, it’s always showing a blue light to indicate clean air. But it’s still good to use because the sensor doesn’t detect EVERYthing. For me the air purification is just a bonus. I probably wait too long to change the filters but they’re easy to do! And dust doesn’t go flying everywhere when I change it. That I can see.. But remember all you gotta do is turn it back on when the filter is changed in order for it to clean that invisible dusty air back up. I assume. Very RARELY does the light change to indicate air impurity. Maybe sometimes purple if it’s SUPER windy or there was a fire somewhere outside that you can smell. One time I was applying a diatomaceous earth powder to my room for bugs, and the light went REDD and I left it runnning for a whole day and I think it reallly helped. Probably wasn’t good at all for the machine but it kept going! I have never tried out the ion setting because the description I have read scares me. Ion wanna try it.. A few days ago, after 4 years, the fan just stopped going. And it made some noise. For the week leading up to it, sometimes the fan would slow down for 5 seconds and then go back. It sounded more like a power issue with maybe my apartment. But then when the fan stopped, I think that was my answer. Not sure how long it’s shooosed to last. I’m sure it varies. But I would say it’s worth it for 4 years. I don’t need any pictures. What you see in the other pictures is accurate. It’s the height of the length of a coat hanger! It’s less than a coat hanger wide by a good bit, and it’s half the length of a coat hanger deep when you measure behind it. Maybe that’ll give you an idea of the size. Not bad. It’s at the foot of my bed. Cleaning it was super simple. I’m ordering another one and it’s giving me same-day shipping. Idk. It’s cool.

Best room purifier in this price range!
Absolute champ when it comes to air purifiers in this price range, and possibly even when compared to much more expensive models. I’ve had several room purifiers from different brands, and this is the best and most efficient. The build quality is also fantastic. Very easy to change the filter, almost instantly removes odors, and operates very quiet. Bought two, and is the only one i recommend to friends/family.

Reliable, effective, quiet, and smart
Living in a part of the world that's often affected by wildfire smoke, I've tried many different air filters over the years. I now own several of these Coway AP-1215 filters. They've been 100% reliable - never a failure, never a dying fan, never a squeak or vibration. They're super effective - it's amazing how fast the filter can clear out even the smoke and grease from cooking on a wok at high temperature. They're very quiet in normal operation. And the filter's ability to sense air quality and respond by increasing or decreasing flow is almost uncanny; even if I just walk into a dusty closet and back out, the filter in my workroom senses the change in the air and steps up within seconds. I would absolutely buy more of these.
