Like it's relative, the "Gamma Seal" made for 5 gallon buckets, the MonoVault will be a great storage container to protect items from air and moisture. Used as directed it should be a great storage method. Polyfarm, LLC has a great product.

Good sise for preserving documents away from home

This looks to be bullet proof. I'm uncertain about it's waterproof capacity. The inner seal is thin and the outer cover provides no additional sealing. The outer cover slips over the inner screw on cover but requires tape to insure it remains intact and provides additional sealing, especially if your burying this. One star off for the top cover not having a rubber seal.

Very well made and easy to open and re-seal. I would suggest burying inside trash bag so it is clean once you pull it out and open it someday.

EXCELLENT DESIGN .

This item is properly designed and rugged. It will probably last for hundreds of years. I will be gone long before.Properly placed and buried in a well drained location, unless disturbed, this container will be there for hundreds of years.The Gamma Seal "o" ring like all seals will not hold out water in the vapor form. Water vapors of a molecular size will nearly always get pass. with change in internal and external temperature.The nearly 1/4 inch thick cap is the key. It is properly designed like an inverted "diving bell." Even if the area is flooded. pressure will increase on the chamber inside, while water will NOT get to the area of the "o" ring.If the Gamma seal "o" ring fails, pressure will transfer to the inside of the Mono Vault. There's where the advantage of the smaller and flat Mono Vault model would survive better, since there is less volume for the pressure to equalize. As the pressure on the inside and the pressure under the cap equalizes, the water might still not reach the level of the Gamma Seal.Get this one, if you really want it to be the survivor.
