Very speedy PC! Works great as a DAW, too.
I'm a radio guy and a musician, and I recently upgraded to this PC for work in my home studio. I did trick it out a bit by swapping one of the RAM modules to a larger Crucial stick which boosted the RAM to a total of 24GB, installing a 4TB Western Digital enterprise grade 7200 rpm hard drive, and a BeQuiet! 92mm fan. All of the installed components installed without a hitch, and it's now a very zippy PC. I don't know about gaming or editing video because I haven't used it for that, but if you're wondering if this PC would work well for audio recording, it certainly does. I have at least a couple of hundred VST instruments including Native Instruments Kontakt, Spitfire Labs and the resource-hungry Vital synthesizer, and layering multiple VSTs per track in Reaper, it takes everything I've thrown at it without bogging down. And that's recording 40 tracks with VST synths on roughly half of those and audio on the other half, plus effect plugins. Adobe Audition and Ableton Live 10 both work seamlessly on this machine too. (Incidentally, I'm using an ASIO4All enabled Behringer USB audio interface with this unit in case you're wondering if it's compatible.) Windows 10 boot up is ridiculously quick thanks to the SSD, taking about 6 seconds. To conserve on the SSD, I only have Windows 10 on the SSD with all of the software and other files on the 4TB hard drive. The 300w proprietary power supply has been adequate to power the PC and installed components, and I don't plan on adding anything else. I would also recommend installing a good 7200 rpm hard drive to save on the SSD, and the BeQuiet 92mm fan to the rear vents on the case. I compared the CPU temps before and after the fan install with the free Core Temp app, and the fan shaves about 8-10 degrees off the CPUs operating temperature under load, and that's a good thing. Of course, it's also rocket-fast for Photoshop, web browsing and everything else I've tried with it. I have around $650 in it with the upgrades, and it's the best $650 I've spent on a computer. If you're looking to upgrade to a faster PC, you'd be hard pressed to find a better one for the money. I'm planning on picking up another one just like it to replace the other PC in my studio, in fact.

Great PC
Dec 2020: This thing boots up in 10 seconds!! My 8 yr old Acer Aspire laptop has worked flawlessly even after changing up to a Samsung EVO SSD and installing Windows 10 but it takes 2 1/2 MINUTES to boot up. Couldn't take that any more! Stayed with Acer Aspire cause their reliable , but bought a Desktop not another laptop. So this was a steal at $449 on Amazon!! Works great . Would buy again. I'm not a techie needing to add "upgrades or gaming capabilities". Just out of the box easy setup 10 minutes!! More speed and memory than I'll ever need. Excellent ACER on-line support groups. UPDATE: 3 months and this Acer is fantastic! Bought here Nov 2020 for $225 LESS than current price! Although I had Win 10 Home and now they sell it with Win 10 PRO. BUY IT! Addendum April 1. 2024, 3years and 4 months now and this computer is FLAWLESS!! Thank you ACER!

Glitchy setup, but keep at it
I just got this set up, so the only thing I can rate is the appearance and the setup. Very nice looking box, no instructions with it. I had my own wireless keyboard and mouse; if you're planning to use the wired ones that come with it, they are small and cheap. There is a port on the front that I have no idea what fits in there, but okay. Odd that it comes with a DVD drive, I thought that was pretty old-school. Two HDMI outputs for monitors; I had an old monitor so I had to get an "HDMI to DVI" cable, no biggie, works great. Don't give up on the setup program - my son said his Acer took like 15 attempts to get past some glitches when he set his up the first time as well. Maybe you'll be lucky and everything will work flawlessly on the first try, who knows. I wouldn't "not" by the machine just because I knew the setup was going to be glitchy and possibly require 5 to 10 re-starts. I just wish I would have known that first - which is why I'm writing this. So, the first time you plug it in, "Cortana" walks you through the setup and it doesn't work correctly. You end up going through the setup and getting to a place that it just freezes or won't accept your input and you have to restart over. You call the online helpdesk and sit on hold for a while and you keep trying. Ultimately, while you are still on hold, the computer gets past the problem that you were having and, ironically, the help line disconnects you (spooky). But then it comes to another place where your mouse is working, but the dropdown menus don't work and you figure out that you can scroll through the security questions using the arrows on your keyboard, then the computer restarts. Ultimately, after about 40minutes for a set up that should have taken 5 minutes, you get past the Cortana setup and it launches the Microsoft Windows and all is right with the world. Frustrating, but then it's all good. It load Microsoft Edge. I downloaded Google Chrome because it's what I'm used to. Maybe when I have some free time, I'll check out more on Edge. Now that I got past the set-up, the computer moves fast, handles my music software (Ableton Live) and appears to be in great working order. A great machine for the money!! I will update this review if I have any problems in the coming days and weeks.

Great low price computer for home, small business, or student use
My old Acer was dying, needed a quick replacement. Wanted something faster (I5 with 12Gig ram - better than 8) and 512 memory. This guy flies (my old Acer came with Windows 7 and was really slow running Windows 10). Be aware that this and most new computers don't support VGA so you might need a new monitor. Also this guy comes with a partioned HD, half C: and half D: (easy to change, but scary for home user). I put the hard drive from the old computer in a cheap ($20) case that comes with power supply and USB 3 connector and the computer recognizes it as an external hard drive, so transferring stuff was easy. Also the Info in the ad may lead you to believe it has internal speakers, it does not! But I had speakers, the sound is great and my old HD has hours and hours of music. To my surprise the old hard drive had the software on it from an old external hard drive that failed, the new computer updated the software and now every Thursday night backs up new computer. This guy isn't a gaming computer, or a heavy duty business computer, but it is great for home use, also I think it would be good for a student (no camera included).

i did the ram upgrade, not to expensive and easy enough to install/buy, solid unit for most "basic" internet/excel tasks, very happy with it

Acer Aspire TC-895-UA92 Desktop Running Like New After 5 years
I originally bought this desktop to replace my computer that was on the decline and failing. I work with audio and video production and needed something within ($500) budget and powerful enough to be able to handle audio recording along with video creation(s). My brother and I were going to build one, but this had all the makings and saved $70(?) in the process. Using Reason 10 and After Effects (15) as a stationary studio environment, this computer has outperformed my expectations. Before this computer, rendering 3-5min videos took on average 3-8hours (depending on effects used). Now, this computer can render those same videos anywhere within 30mins - 3 hours. After 4 hrs of everyday use, this computer still runs like the first day. Startup takes only about 4 secs and loading my audio/video sessions about 8 seconds. I make sure if the computer is not going to be in use for more than 4 hrs, it sleeps and more than 8 hours it turns off. I automatically upload files to my OneDrive so that the PC memory stays clan, that might be a good idea for others. I purchased this at $520 and it's currently $540 and should give confidence on ROI/price time decay. Never upgraded to Win11, still on stock Win10 and again, works like the first day, awesome!

Fast and Very Nice
I currently now have 4 Acer Computers. A Windows Laptop, Chromebook Laptop, Wife's Desktop and now this Desktop for myself. I have had absolutely NO issues with any of them! This computer is fast and is plenty for what I use it for. My wife and I are 64 years old and play mostly Big Fish Games with no issues. I would imagine that if you wanted to play more powerful games you would want a graphics card, but, for us it is plenty. It does have a cooling fan installed but the only time you hear it at all is when it's ramping up but still quiet. Because of the SSD it stays cool. Nice computer for the price!

Can it play games? Somewhat, yes!
I bought this for basic use/working from home and it has served me well in that regard. However, I got curious as to what could be done to get some games going on it, and here is what I found: I just installed a Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB GDDR5 (also purchased here) to this PC and I must say, it's not a bad setup for the casual gamer such as myself. Power runs through the PCI so there are no wires to worry about, just plug and play! No new power supply needed. As a casual, I can only say for certain that it allows me to play Fortnite and Genshin Impact beautifully on high settings. The PC already played Fortnite, albeit on low/mid settings, but it now plays on epic. Genshin Impact wouldn't even load up before, and now it plays on high settings with nary a sign of struggle. The only other thing I've done to this PC since buying it is upgrade to the max 32g ram via 2 16g ram sticks I got from Crucial. Well, I did add a second hard drive and I had to move that out of the way in order for this card to fit, but it was easy to just put it right back after instillation.
