Great dock for the right laptop.
Update: I bought this on 28th Jan 2023, and it has worked flawlessly until today. I have two HDMI and one DisplayPort monitors connected (all identical). First the one HDMI suddenly went blank, I fiddled with the cable and it came back to life. Then it went out again, and fiddling with the cable made both HDMI screens go blank. Computer still thought they were there, and the monitors were still active (didn't go into sleep mode). Then a bit more plugging and unplugging and all worked, then the first HDMI one that had failed, failed again. Replaced the cable to that one and everything seemed fine for about an hour and then the dodgy HDMI one went blank again. having tried various cables I suspect that there's something gone wrong inside that is affecting both HDMI ports, wiggling things sometimes brings one back to life, or kills both. I'd guess there's a internal connection issue to the ports themselves, only affecting the HDMI ports. The DisplayPort is not affected and works fine. I've simply ordered a replacemnt unit as this is a business critical issue for me at the moment. I will follow up with the supplier at the weekend. Originally cost me £100, which is a bit over £50 per year for a very good working environment, so I hope the next one lasts as long (and it's now only £79.99). -------------- I'm using this dock with three ASUS ProArt PA248QV WUXGA 1920x1200 16:10 monitors. Two are connected via HDMI and the third via DisplayPort. I’ve not tried the VGA port so have no idea if it could actually support a fourth display. I also have various other bits plugged into USB ports such as keyboard, mouse, camera, etc. I'm powering it with a 96W PD power block and it in turn provides ample power to my laptop, all through the same USB C cable (supplied) through which the data flows. It’s a very convenient solution. It is also nicely made with a good feel to it, but it doesn’t come with a stand or mounting clip, so I’ll probably end up using double sided tape to keep it neatly attached to the back of a monitor stand. It needs a modern laptop with DisplayPort over USB C capability. It did not work with a Lenovo X1 Carbon 5th GEN (2017 model) even though it supports DisplayPort over USB C – the two HDMI monitors were fine but the DisplayPort one would only display at 640x480 resolution. I think the DisplayPort version on that laptop is too old. It works perfectly with Lenovo X1 Carbon 9th GEN (2022 model), and it also works perfectly with a Lenovo L14 (2023 Model). In both of these cases the laptop screen also works, so I effectively have 4 screens including the laptop. Altogether it is a brilliant little dock but you do need to check the compatibility of your laptop.

Good value and well built
After watching countless YT reviews and scouring Amazon and eBay for reduced or used CalDigit or OWC items I came across this. With only 2 reviews at the time I was wondering if I should risk such an unknown item. I am pleased I did as so far so good. Be aware this needs power to work, I use it with my 96W Apple Mac charger (via a 100W USB C charging cable, although it does come with a USB - C (possibly thunderbolt) My only complaints are it only has one spare thunderbolt port, the other two are for power and to run to the host laptop. It would have been far more useful if it had 2 additional thunderbolt ports. It does however have 5 USB A connectors (3.1, 3.0 and 2.0). I also found the MicroSD and SD cart slots to be quite slow, instead preferring to use an adapter via the USB A 3.0 ports instead as were faster. Finally when using the HDMI 1 port to run a 60hz monitor the screen would flicker intermitently, when using HDMI 2 port (limited to 30hz) it was fine, although let's be honest no one would choose to run at 30hz when their monitor can run double that. I am planning to try a Display port cable to see if this works better. Due to the above dropped 1 star off the rating, otherwise would be perfect (ignoring the odd inclusion of a vga port, why not give us a couple of extra thunderbolts instead?!) Overall a good product at a decent price (I benefitted from a money off voucher at checkout) that is well built, and does the job.

Great but issues after 2.5 years
Worked great for 2 and a half years, but now screen and peripherals regularly keep disconnecting. Not super expensive, but still expected it to last longer.

Displaylink Docking Station Dual Monitor
Great docking station for a home work office, easy to swap Personal Laptop with Work Laptop. Ports are well laid out with long term ports at the back and used ports at the front. The long USB C connection cable realy helps.

Seller sent a list of problems before the item arrived
Ethernet connection did not work even after following the instructions below. Knew I was in for problems when the following arrived on an email from the seller before I received the hub. Item 7 is about the ethernet. 1. This USB C docking station needs your laptop's USB C port to support DisplayPort/Video output. Please check if your laptop's USB C port supports DisplayPort/Video output. 2. About the docking station getting hot: It is normal if the temperature does not over 50°c due to the material design. please feel free to contact customer service if the docking station still gets too hot or does not work normally. 3. This docking station for the Mac OS system just support mirror mode, does not support extended mode (Extended mode for MacBook: The 2 monitors will be shown the same image but different from the laptop) 4. This USB C docking station support 2 HDMI+ VGA at the same time and the resolution will be 1080P (The Resolution is limited by the VGA port). Please enter "windows + P" that you could choose the extended mode. 5. What if the HDMI port does not work: ① Check if the HDMI cable is HDMI 2.0 (Please don't use the cable for too long) ② Please confirm if you have plugged the HDMI port is correct (The HDMI port needs an HDMI to HDMI port to work) ③Please plug and unplug the docking station, then enter the "windows + p" to active the laptop 6. About the charging issue: Please use a power adapter over 65W due to the docking station will be withholding a part of power (It is better to use your original power adapter if your laptop charging port is DC Power). It is normal below 50 ° C if the docking station gets warmer, but if it is too hot please contact me for a new replacement. Please plug the charging port(Power Delivery port) before you use the docking station (Sometimes the docking station will not work if your laptop does not have enough power) 7. About the Ethernet keep dropping: ① Please plug and unplug the Ethernet cable. (Use the power adapter over 65W, please plug the Ethernet cable after charging) ②Please set your IP address and MAC address acquisition method to automatic acquisition method if the Ethernet does not recognize. 8. About network interference: Please use the USB 2.0 port or plug the keyboard/mouse into the port which keeps away from the network port if the keyboard/mouse is slow to respond.
