My fish died
I cut this and used it for my aquarium. This is the only thing I used differently and my fish died.

Aquarium Users Read: What is that smell???
You know how a bunch of people were complaining about the petrochem smell here in the reviews? Not my set of pads. Both my wife and I independently concluded that these pads were sprayed with a very common air fresher known to "neutralize" odors, at some point in the supply chain. Odor problem fixed... #facepalmAquarium keepers such as myself, steer well clear. If unavoidable, use a GLYCERIN based unscented soap to wash clean both the original petrochemicals and air freshener, and rinse until no scent present. It is a hassle, but the product does come clean and otherwise is a perfectly good course sponge pad. (And keep using the glycerin soap for when you must stick your hands in the tank, filter or sump... your other soaps are likely adding nitrates.)

Foam has strong chemical smell
I purchased the Hipanda black 9"X9" foam filter pad to use in my reef tank. When I removed the foam filter pad from the packaging I noticed a strong chemical smell. The smell is petrochemical in nature and so prevalent that I don't trust this product to be biologically neutral. I can't use this product in my tank with sps corals and fish without the fear I am risking damage to the lifeforms.

versatile
I bought this and cut it into a bunch of pieces to fit my cat's water fountain. They want like $15 for a pack of 2 with four of the cloth filters for the branded ones. Be smart and instead get this or a similar product, cut it up, and have sponge filters for life and then buy the generic cloth ones for less than a buck each on Amazon. Spend the money you saved on extra cat treats.

It’s a sponge. It does sponge things.
I needed this, so I got it. It’s pretty big and allowed me to make my own bio filter. I could probably get two more out of this chunk. I think it’s expensive for what it is but what’s the alternative? It did the trick.

Very large
So I definitely didn't realize how big these were going to be. Holy moly! I'm very happy with this purchase. 😂

Good quality filter material
This filter material works very well and the quality is very good to last a long time. I do wish it were a bit thicker to collect more floating particles before needing to be cleaned. I'm using it for a different unit so that might just be my issue. I do recommend it.

Extra sponge is always better
I got this as additional sponge material for my filters and have since cut to fit them to replace other friend's filter media/add to their media. I have modified four nano tanks thus far and still have an entire extra pad left. The pores are kind of course and I use it as a snail blocker for the intake but the baby shrimp might slip through it. It does make for excellent bio media in a pinch (lots of surface area with easy water flow through it). As well it is stiff enough to wedge in places and so I use it for flow dispersion for the filter out-put for my betta tanks.

Using them as temporary spa filter !
I've an inflatable saluspa, and filter got cloaked, giving constant pump E2 error (not enough flow) as I bought compatible filters not that efficient. So I decided to cut one filter and cover it with this one. Does a great job.Only thing to keep in mind, these are made of real sponge, so over time, chemicals in water does slowly degrade them. But does a great job as spare/workaround for my SPA.

Works for my aquarium
This foam works pretty good for my hang back filter. Saved me lots of money on original filter cartridges.

So far so good
Cut it to shape and put it in my filter a week ago. Seems like really good stuff but we will see how long it lasts.
