Quantum Colors Color Replenishing Shampoo, Perfect Plums, 10.19-Ounce

definitely keeps your hair purple! which is what I wanted. I did not have to color my hair as much which saved me money and saved my head some hair! It is a pain though because it turns your shower pink and your hands so you have to wipe your shower down after each use! But it does not stain permanently, it comes right off! I would use it again if my hair was still this color!

I had been dying my hair various shades of Burgundy, & decided to take a break from coloring chemicals, but I missed my color. So I thought I'd go on an adventure & see what this shampoo could do. If you try this product, make sure you're open to possibilities, because they may vary widely depending on your hair texture, your natural color, & all previous processing. Everything you have or haven't done to your hair will alter how this shampoo affects your results. That said, you won't be stuck with the changes because it will wash out in a few days with regular shampooing. Also, make sure you have your favorite color protection conditioner on hand, as you *will* need it. I like Suave Color Protection, & I find it works well with this.On the first washing, it turned my own Medium Ash Brown hair a slightly richer shade, & it made the 20% gray in my hair turn snow white. I noticed my uncolored Ash Brown took on a deeper, truer shade, & the ends of my hair which had been previously colored began to subtly pick up some Burgundy.Aside from those dying their hair Burgundy, I would recommend this shampoo to people who want a kinder alternative to those overly harsh Bluing shampoos made to remove the tarnished yellow tint from gray hair. This shampoo did not strip out my follicles & leave my hair straw the way Bluing shampoos do, & I am much happier with the color results. Keep in mind though, you will need to condition it.On the second washing most of the brassiness left over from 5 months of my last color washing, was gone. Shades like Ion Burgundy Brown tend to wash out gold on me, & most of the gold is finally gone. My ash brown roots continued to take on a deeper, truer color with more uniform cool tones to match my skin tone. And the snow white hair from the first washing began to take on a cool, faintly purple silver tone to blend in. No more white streaks. If you've got 3 or 4 different tones of hair on your head, this may product help to level them out.Before I tried it, I called Quantum's Hair Tech Help Line & asked them if gray hair would grab the Plum, indicating that's what I'm hoping will happen. The Tech told me it may or may not, depending on how porous my hair was. Porous hair grabs color, but more resistant hair will not. I have a lot of Red pigment stashed away under my Ash Brown, but because my hair is naturally an Ash shade, on the uncolored hair, this product pulls Ash for me, rather then Red. If this also describes you, this may be a possible result. On the third or fourth washing, I expect all of the gold post-washout tint will be history.Overall, I am satisfied with the changes this shampoo has made to my hair. I just wish it had more Plum Power... For many customers however, the gradual changes may be what they're seeking...especially for hair containing multiple levels of processing.Thank you Quantum & Sally Beauty for entertaining us Children Of The 80's with your products & colors... You can take the girl out of the '80s...but not the '80s out of the girl. : ) Add more color power to this shampoo, & I will rate this 5 Stars.2/14/17 UPDATE:I love this stuff. I had to quit coloring for a while because Violet hair colors were literally causing my hair to fall out at the root in large quantities. So I quit coloring all together for a year & a half. During that time, I used Perfect Plums almost daily for gray coverage. I have Medium Ash Brown hair & I'm about 1/4 gray...& this shampoo gradually made my gray blend in much better with the normal hair, while making the texture more manageable the way coloring it does.This month I got brave & took a chance & I colored with Ion's Burgundy Brown 5RV. Although I didn't lose hair (thank God)...it pulled quite Red...instead of Burgundy. It was barely pink at all. So I got out my Perfect Plums, & I washed that coppery Red right out of my hair on the first double wash after coloring. 3 washes took 100% of the gold tones out of it. And where Ion should have left me pink, it added a nice purple hue, especially in the gray areas. Now I like my color. : )Some say the color from this shampoo is good for only one wash, but if I wash uncolored hair with it every time for around 3 weeks, the subtle Violet hue becomes so permanent, I can't wash it out if I tried. But my hair can get pretty dry & porous, perhaps enhancing color absorption.I have no idea how people are getting stained showers from this stuff. What is it staining, your tub's soap scum & organic residue...? I had a white fiberglass tub in a previous apartment & it never permanently stained my shower. I also had a white shower stall & had no problems. I now have a ceramic grouted tile shower & I still have no issues. But I live clean.I've never had this shampoo permanently stain my hands, ever. I don't come out of the shower with purple hands they way I do from permanently coloring my hair. It just washes off.I can't say enough good things about this shampoo... I wish I'd known about it years ago. It really has rescued my hair in a number of ways.

It's ok. It's got more red than purple and I wanted purple. I also use Overtone which is amazing. I got my hair professionally colored purple almost two months ago. Between using this and overtone my hair still looks like i just dyed it, except for the roots. I think you need to damage you hair with real color before this or Overtone will "stick" to it. That being said, it does nothing to my roots/greys that are popping up. I'm not sure this is doing anything to make my color last longer as i use it with the other thing but it does not stain my hands or shower. Overtone stains everything it touches, so I assume it's that product and not this, that has helped it keep looking great. Will not buy again.

I received this shampoo in record time. The product works as advertised but, you definitely need the conditioner too.

Great product, only problem it stains your hands and shower.
