I've been looking to enhance my emergency kits, for home, vehicle and hiking, so when I had a chance to obtain this product for a reduced price in return for my honest review, I jumped at the chance. Even at regular price, this kit is a bargain compared to some water filter systems out there. It arrived quickly and nicely packaged. The bag is fairly thin and plastic-y, but it will do the trick for keeping the filter clean and protected in my emergency kit or backpack.The filter itself is decent quality plastic, and it contained inside another sealed plastic bag for protection. I opened this one to try, but if I buy additional I will keep them in the sealed bag until I need to use them. The filter was very simple to use (I only tested it on tap water, so can't comment on taste.)The kit also comes with a flint fire starter. Pretty basic, but another good emergency supply item to throw in the kit.Overall, a good product that I will consider buying more of (would be nice to have at least one or two in each vehicle kit).

Great Price for this personal water filter and fire starter. We hike a lot and spend time in the outdoors. This is a great addition and light to carry when we are in the mountains. You never know what can happen. Great combination for surviving in the wilderness, or just hiking & camping out. Water and warmth are critical needs, when I've been in wilderness situations. Like any tools in a toolbox that I normally use, it was the Boy Scouts that showed me how to prepare for camping, and crisis situations.The military trains their recruits for readiness in battle and survival skills, so preparation is never a bad thing.

Bought as a gift for our nephew who is going to be hiking the Pacific Coast Trail. He hasn't tried the water purifier yet, but loves having the extra magnesium flint. They are a sure way to get a fire going.

Arrived as promised and both pieces are as expected. I didn't test the flint because it's exactly the same as others that I have used and are great btw. The straw I am saving till I need it

Very effective survival item to have

Haven't used them as these will be in our survival packs. Liked that they came with the fire starter too. Guess when the time comes we'll find out how well they work.

The water filter and flint fire starter came with instructions for use. We ride in the back country with horses a lot, and these are going to come in very handy for us. Very nice set.
