`It's Okay To Have A Cheat Day' - but you won't want one with Bjorn's plan!
The very fit, hunky author of this book - Nicholas Bjorn - offers some valuable insights in his bio; `Years ago, in my teenage years, I got into working out just to look good. Back then health and eating was not so much of a concern to me. I got very good results quickly but just as quickly plateaued and had trouble making any significant gains from that point on. Back then what I didn't know was how important nutrition was. When I started to focus on nutrition I struggled finding the right foods to eat. And around that same time I became a personal trainer and if I was going to teach others, I knew I needed to learn it for myself first. With my increased knowledge I began seeing significant results in weight loss and lean muscle gains. I applied what I learned with my clients and I loved seeing their progress and improvements just as much as I enjoyed seeing my own progress. This passion carried me to where I am today. My goal is to share what I know to educate and motivate as many people as I can. Changing the way you eat to eating healthier foods is extremely important to improving your health, changing your body and improving your life.' Now as author of several books on both fitness and nutrition he successfully combines the two in this excellent NUTRITION 101.In his introduction he makes nutrition understandable: `A food plate should consist of at least 75% of vegetables then the remaining 25% should be partitioned between protein, grains and fruits. A small saucer of dairy can also be included.'From that platform he introduces that more important aspects of the forms on the plate - and that is basically how he communicates - scientifically based facts in a plain language manner, nothing to discourage anyone from following his guidelines. The book is divided in to the following chapters: The Basics of Nutrition 101, Dietary Guidelines, Reading Nutrition Labels, The Right Vitamins and Minerals, The Best Fat-Burning Foods, and Other Reminders. It is readily apparent that Nicholas knows his nutrition science and he delivers it in such a congenial way that the reader cannot help but start on the path toward eating correctly, losing weight, and feeling great. A very well composed and complete guide to nutrition - and hence the title NUTRITION 101! Grady Harp, October 14

A beginner's guide
"Nutrition 101," by Nicholas Bjorn, is a basic primer on nutrition. It is definitely a book for the beginner, someone who wants to know the rudimentary facts about nutrition. For example, the chapter entitled "Reading Nutrition Labels" (Chapter 3) instructs people in the meaning of nutrition labels. If you've never read nutrition labels before or are still mystified by their meaning, this chapter will be of help. Similarly, Chapter 4, "The Right Vitamins and Minerals," provides a barebones description of how Vitamins A, B6, B12, C, D, E, and K as well as minerals such as Calcium and Potassium promote bodily health and includes a short list of foods that are high in these various vitamins. Again, if this the first you've encountered these nutrition facts, you'll find this enlightening. However, if you've already read extensively on the benefits of these vitamins and minerals, you will find this to be repetitive of what you already know. The same is true of the other chapters (such as Chapter 5, "The Best Fat-Burning Foods").If you are already familiar with these issues, the main advantage of owning this book is that it is crams a fair amount of information into a rather short space and is of some value as a basic reference work.

Nothing's New
This book is a good diet book as it gives you precise basic information about the topic. From its beginning until the end, each description is brief at the same time comprehensive. There's nothing wrong with the grammatical error in the book. Yes, there are some mistakes but not that noticeable you can ignore them. It will not hindrance you in understanding the thought of the book.It is obvious from its title that you should not expect new diet method or information. Everything is known to most of us. But a good reminder is not a waste of money.

An easy to read very informative book that will make us healthier
This is a clear and informative book that not only helps readers lose weight but, more importantly, helps them live a healthier life and feel good. The author devotes six chapters to tell us the basics of nutrition, dietary guidelines, nutrition labels, the right vitamins and minerals that we should eat, the best fat burning foods, and reminders. He teaches us how to read labels and how to get the right amount of nutrients into our bodies. Among much else, he writes that we need to eat 75 percent vegetables with the remaining 25 percent being proteins, grains, and fruits, as well as three servings of dairy. He also lists the good and bad foods.

Good Guide
This book has been a helpful resource for me. I rarely have issues with my weight, but my son and my husband both struggle a bit. My son, who is 13, is interested in changing his habits to try to avoid some of the health issues on my husband's side of the family, and, before I checked out this book, I was absolutely opposed to letting him even think about trying to build muscle or lose weight.I don't want him body-shaming himself, and I don't want him dieting. But there isn't any of that in this book. It's just solid information presented in an easy to follow format, and it is about eating right, not dieting. There's nothing earth-shattering in here, but it's all valid and helpful and, most of all, safe.

Extremely instructive and useful book!
This book will teach you how much important it is to know the food that we take into our body.Nicholas Bjorn is an expert on nutrition, truly a man from which we can learn a lot. I followed the advice set out in the book, and the results have come over for a couple of weeks. I feel better, more relaxed and happier. I've read a couple more books on this subject but I can confirm that this one is the best. I recommend to all people who have problems with weight, unhealthy diet or just people who want a better life.

Interesting Book
It started off very well then it became very technical then it got better again. The good info was great but a lot of extra stuff which was unnecessary.
