I think I might have preferred a black cylinder as opposed to the the chrome cylinder. I used this cylinder to raise an existing office chair up to counter height. I'm a tall person and needed to raise my desk to keep from scraping my legs on the center drawer and also to be able to have my legs at the preferred ergonmic angle while sitting. This cylinder has given my office chair a drafting height raise that makes getting in and out of the chair much easier.

I have a regular office chair which I use on a craftsman workbench (which is high). So, the gas lift must be the longest kind available (i.e. drafting chair). The previous gas lift I had was failing and started sinking down several inches once I sat in the chair. Replaced with this one, and now its firm again! Its been a few weeks, still working fine.

I know it's what she said but its kinda big. But it is very good quality. Im sure she said that too.

Had these bar stools for just a few years. The cylinder on one of the stools went bad and kept dropping right to the bottom. Instead of buying a new stool, I replaced the cylinder with this one, and it is better than new!! It fit perfectly and was very easy to replace.

the old one did not remove itself without a fight. i think i used a rubber mallet on it in the end.

Cylinder is leaking down daily now worse than the original one from the chair.

Product was sturdy for what I needed it for. Very tall when fully extended, much taller than I really needed, but it sufficed. Would recommend for tall bar stools or drafting chairs.

I bought a heavy duty (Flash Furniture HERCULES Series Big & Tall 400 lb. Rated Black Mesh Ergonomic Drafting Chair ) "drafting chair." It was 4 inches too short for a standard height drafting table. This fixed the problem.

I replaced my old lift cylinder. The cylinder extends to the max length when you get off the chair. When you sit on the chair.... it bottoms out. I had to destroy the original cylinder during the removal process... and have no choice but to keep this one or stand as I expect I will have to damage this one to remove it, making it unreturnable. I work from my home office and am in my chair for 8 hours a day. It's incompatible with a Steelcase Leap Chair, and a regular 8-15" lift is too short for my legs and desk. There are no markings and no safety stamps on the cylinder, which makes me skeptical of the build quality.
