My kids love this game. Lovely, good quality product, finished well with no rough parts. Comes in a nice cardboard box. Great for a gift if not sure what to buy someone's kids. Played a lot at home and great for learning number bonds to 12 quickly. My kids 14, 11 and 5 all play together which is saying something given the age gaps. It's almost impossible to find things these days that do not involve a screen and that can keep siblings of varying ages entertained, but this worked. I also bought the wooden snakes and ladders, ludo double sided board after a cardboard folding one got damaged.

Great game for 4 people does not last too long so kids don't get bored

We love shut the box and we love Jacques, so when I saw they did this 4 player version, I knew we had to have it! It came BEAUTIFULLY presented (as we now expect from Jacques) and is a lovely game. Would make a really nice gift for many, particularly those with school age children learning to count. A nice fun game for the whole family and another lovely piece from Jacques

I bought this game for 2 of my grandchildren ages 3 and 4 and took it to my first 'extended household' visit. They both enjoyed it for a while but then the three year old went zooming off with his cars. However, my granddaughter Esmé couldn't get enough. We decided to play it with a twist, that if you threw the same number again you had to put it back up. That gave us lots of laughs. Really well worth giving this simple game a go. There was only one wrinkle - when Esmé said 'how do you throw a one with two dice? It said nothing in the rules but I decided that the only way was that when you only had number one left open then you switched to one die. In my experience children love playing board games with adults. By the end of the afternoon 4 year old Esmé was recognising the numbers on the dice without counting the dots and quickly doing the simple math.

My daughter and I finally got round to playing the single version of shut the box and both were instantly addicted so I purchased the 4 player version for family time and holidays. It came beautifully presented with a ribbon tied around the box. The box itself is more then adequate to be given as a gift. On opening the box the game is wrapped in stunning old fashioned Jacques tissue paper. The game comes with instructions and a personalised note from the packer. All very nice and personal touches. I would highly recommend as a gift. Ideal for ages approx 6 to 99 +. Great for holidays and travel as games only last minutes.
