Artificial flavoring or Natural flavoring???? Answer is....
Like many I first bought this at Trader Joes (Medium Roast) but when I found out it had artificial flavoring I stop buying it.But when I came across this again on Amazon, saying it was "Naturally Flavored" and they also carried a dark roast I had to give New Mexico Pinon coffee another shot. When I received my coffee, sure enough sticker on the front of the bag, says "Naturally Flavored" but on closer inspection, the lower side of the bag, after contents, it states "100% Arabic coffee and artificial flavoring". I immediately called New Mexico customer service number (got a real human in less then a minute, thumbs up) and explained my situation, they assured me that this coffee was now naturally flavored after 20 years of using artificial flavoring and the reason for the contradicting information on the bag, was they were using up their old printed bags they still had in stock but the new label bags would be correct and to go by the sticker on front of the bag for the correct contents. Hope that makes sense. Now as for the coffee itself, I'm usually not one for flavored coffee, I drink my coffee using an espresso machine, long pulls, no milk or sugar and I prefer dark roast's most of the time. I do like the flavoring of this coffee but as for the roast, it is a little bitter on the after taste, not burnt tasting just a little bitter. I think I will try the medium roast next, see if the bitterness is removed. Overall I would recommend trying New Mexico Pinon coffee, now that it's naturally flavored but keep in mind the flavor might not be for everyone.Hope this helps.

Delicious.
I lived in NM for 13 years and when I moved to NY I got tired of drinking (and paying for) Starbucks beans. My boyfriend and I were going through a 12 oz bag biweekly (with a single serve machine). So I decided to buy this in a 2 lb bag since I knew it was a good, unique flavor. Normally, he and I both don't like nutty flavored coffee but this is not like any other. He drinks it black and I always use cream and sugar. Definitely worth it. Just wish I had a Costco nearby so I could buy a 5lb bag.

Not just for us New Mexicans anymore
I’m a native New Mexican, so I may be a bit biased, but there is nothing better than the flavor combination of roasted New Mexico piñon mixed with coffee and undertones of Biscochito- our state cookie (a flaky sugar cookie cut into a shape and dusted with cinnamon and sugar and normally with anise seeds in the dough). I’m not the biggest anise fan, and fortunately I don’t taste anise in the coffee blend. The overall taste is a smooth nutty flavor with subtle hints of vanilla and cinnamon. Piñon coffee is not a novelty- it’s a way of life here in NM, and actually cheaper for me to buy on Amazon than to drive down the street to the physical location.Enjoy our state gem, now apparently available on Amazon Prime. The 8th wonder of the world from our state to yours.

100% Artificial Flavoring
It's not a bad coffee, but since they started using artificial flavor, it just tastes like a hazelnut coffee you can get in any grocery store. I hope the drought ends and they start using real Piñon nuts again, but until then I won't buy it again. It's way too expensive and just a gimmick now.

Tastes like plain ole cheap coffee beans.
Where's the pinon smell or taste. I have bought New Mexico Pinon coffee many times in the past. This 2lb bag of coffee does not taste or smell like pinon coffee. In fact it is barely ok for just plain coffee beans. Buyer Beware!

Dissapointed
I know flavor is subjective, but to me this tastes like just another artificial hazelnut. I was looking for "nutty-smoky-earthy" but instead I got "chemical-sweet". Interestingly, the ingredient listing on the bag once said "coffee and piñon", but this was covered up with an almost imperceptible sticker, with a "revised" ingredient listing... just coffee and artificial flavor. The Land of Enchantment offers a great many regional delicacies that pander to foodies who are looking for high quality gourmet offerings... rest assured, this isn't one of them.

Now with natural piñon flavor! ☕
I found a bad of this in a random assortment from homegoods and loved it. Then came the ptoblrm of where ti get more. I was ordering directly from New Mexico Coffee Roasters but had to pay shipping and profuct was pricey. The positive was they hsve an excellent assortment of handcrafted natural New Mexico products. I ran across the coffee on smazon for a better price and free shipping. I fo not generally drink flavoured coffees but piñon is subtle and it comes in dark or medium roast. Heavenly flavour. Not overpowering. I was very happy to learn the roasters perfected their process to use natural piñon too.

Funny Story...
Funny story...I bought this for a family whose last name is Pinion, so it was really just a novelty purchase. It's pronounced exactly the same as your coffee, how funny is that?Well, I didn't hear back whether they enjoyed it, but they got a big kick out of the name!Recently, one of them reached out to me specifically to ask where on earth I purchased that wonderful coffee from?Apparently, they loved it, and have been searching for it ever since they finished it! She said that she and her husband rarely enjoy flavored coffee because they always taste artificial, but they both refer to the Piñon coffee as "that nice gormet coffee."This was a win. I'm back to stock them up for Christmas!

Taste is subjective, so take this with a grain of salt
For me the medium roast was too light for my taste (Tried both automatic espresso and drip machines), the nut flavour is there although very subtle.Value for quantity is good and if you like your coffee mild this might be good for you.

Best Coffee Ever
The coffee tastes great, however the price is not consistant. Last time I paid double the price and received a $22 bill from FedEx 2 weeks after I used it up. I will continue to purchase at a fair price, but I wont be getting cheated again.

Very happy with this. Reminded me of my trip to NM.
I discovered pinon coffee on a trip to New Mexico. This was a happy reminder of my time in Santa Fe. Much enjoyed!

Pas utilisé
Beaucoup trop parfumé. L'odeur et le goût sont intenses. Pour ceux qui n'aiment pas le goût du café
