Probably my only beef, and it's a small one, is that a leather cord would slip a little less. That said, this works really well and produced my first friction fire. I can play around with natural spindles and fire boards that I find and it helps me figure out what problems are me, and what problems are the materials (too wet, wrong species, etc.) The hand socket is exceptionally frictionless, and although a bit heavy is about as good as one can get.

Nice set, but instructions are definitely lacking. It wasn't until I wound up having to untie the bow that I saw there are videos he made. Even with the videos I still have no idea how taut the rope is supposed to be. The oakum is awesome, but does little good if I can't get the bow to work. But the craftsmanship is very good.

Proper little set up here. Teaching my 7 year these old primitive skills so I bough him this and weI Took it out to the back country and sure enough fire was made. Very nice product, for introducing this skill, next step is learning how to make the set up with local craft.

Loved it. Great quality. PLEASE bring this back or at least offer the bows. Cant find anything that compares to this one and we want more.

It took a few tries and, after a lot of smoke, I finally got a fire going. It's also a great work out. If you don't get it at first, just keep trying and try different techniques.

My husband absolutely loves this. He uses it daily when starting our wood burning stove.

This is a great buy. I used it as soon as I opened the box. It is a workout and you might have to adjust the rope a bit but I got it to work.
