Fantastic Fire Starter, and with only a Spark!
OK, I buy $1000s from Amazon each year and do not write reviews unless I'm more the very impressed. This is everything they say it is! There are small starters and large starters for wetter climates. Purchased one just to try, then purchased more when I confirmed how great they are.As they say, you can use a knife (need a very sharp knife) to cut a small starter into 1/4, then you can light it with a spark. Using this Ferro rod also purchase from Amazon.com:{Factory Direct Sale} 1/2" X 5" 12.7mmx12.7cm Ferrocerium Rod Flint Fire Starter Lighter Magnesium Tool Kits Camping Hiking Survival Outdoor BlackThe 1/4 cut was easily started with sparks after about 8 good strikes. They burn a long time as marketed. In addition, they come in a tin (maybe aluminum) can that can also be used to char cotton cloth over a last flame should you be in an emergency situation and use all your fire starters, which can give you addition tinder to start with the Ferro rod (but not as good as these). Though I have not confirmed the non-toxic aspect and don't plan to cook food directly over them or use mass amount for indoor fire starter; however, these are awesome fire starters, they light easily with a water proof match in a wet climate, and can be cut into smaller pieces to light with only a spark from a Ferro rod. Too, they do not expire (not confirmed since I've only had my a month). Highly recommended!!

Does a great job at getting a fire started, a bunch of companys make a lot of different stuff like this, ive tried a lot of them. This one works with the best of them but is bulky compared to some other options. Works great but could get smaller options for survival storage.
