A Reliable Flashlight with a Hidden Benefit
This flashlight, besides being a dependable light at a very reasonable price, has one benefit that no other modern flashlight I have seen has.If used in a dusty, gritty environment such as a construction site or a farm, dirt, sand, and grit can get into the switch of almost any flashlight and, as you use it, you can hear the grit grinding away at the switch. But this light's switch can be taken apart and cleaned by first removing the lamp assembly from the front and the endcap from the rear. Then, by unscrewing the screw in the center of the black switch button, the copper-plated switch strap inside the light's body will fall free. Then, simply wash, rinse, and dry the flashlight main body, the switch strap, and the switch button, and reassemble everything and you will again have a smoothly functioning switch. Two tips:First, before dis-assembly, in order that you will be able to put everything back together, note carefully the structure and position of the switch strap inside the flashlight. It is a narrow strip of metal with a "hump" in it. The bulge of the hump faces outward toward the black plastic switch button on the outside of the light. Also, this hump divides the strap into two sections and the shorter section is nearer to the front of the flashlight.Second, when re-assembling the switch, if your fingers are not long enough to hold the switch strap in position inside the flashlight while you screw the switch button into the "hump", pack the inside of the light with wadded-up paper to hold the switch strap in place for you.A couple of other things I have learned - As you flick the switch button on and off you will see, both in front and behind it, a protrusion on the yellow body of the light. These are the "detents" that hold the switch on or off. Put a tiny dab of "Vaseline" or a drop of oil on each one and then wipe it off. The residual lubrication will make the switch operation much smoother and will last quite a while. Also, you might have noticed that since the advent of LED's with their much lower power consumption, the price of batteries has gone way up. (I assume this is because the battery companies are not selling as many batteries as they used to sell.)If your use permits it, I recommend replacing the incandescent bulb with a replacement LED bulb such as the Dorcy 41-1643 30 Lumen 3 Volt LED which Amazon sells. In an industrial setting, where you want a diffused light for close-up use and not a long distance "spot" beam this works fine and you have the cost saving of an LED light, plus, if the bulb ever dies, you can replace just it and not an entire expensive LED flashlight.Despite all the good features, I found one negative thing about this flashlight. Although the picture of the light shows it still being present, Bright Star has chosen to discontinue the yellow hanger ring on the endcap. However, the three ribs that supported it are still there and their sharp edges can cause discomfort to sensitive hands when the light is gripped by its end. But, all in all, a great light. Please note that I have no connection with the Bright Star company, but I have spoken to them and they seem like nice people who are very proud of making good products in the U.S.A.

Decent but dim
Well, I bought this because I had a bunch of D batteries that needed a home. For the price, it's a decent flashlight, but my goodness this is dim! It's definitely not a BRIGHT flashlight. I do like it's a durable flashlight though, because of it's bulky body.

It was delivered better than was advertised
It was exactly what I needed. My old flashlights do not put out the light that this one does. It was delivered better than was advertised. We are now ready for hurricane season.

Bright Star Flashlight
After a recent storm I was without power for two days. I had some flashlights & batteries, some of which actually worked. Most of those that didn't were made in China. I was determined to get quality flashlights "Made In USA". The Bright Star fills the bill. It is a heavy duty unit which will work when I need it. It was recommended by ny meter reader.Be sure to use quality batteries. Eveready Energizer batteries are widely available and "Made In USA". A quality light is no good if you use cheap batteries and they leak and ruin your flashlight.
