The Trapp Family Recorder Method, Book 1: Descant or Tenor

Great for adults who can read music
This is an excellent book for adults with a background in music who are getting started on the recorder. As a flute and piano player, the basics of recorder came quite easily, but I was struggling to find a method book to take me beyond beginner into intermediate level playing. This fit the bill! Not recommended for young children or people who don't read music already as the focus is on recorder technique, not music theory.

Excellent introduction to playing the recorder
Volume 1 is an excellent introduction to learning to use a SOPRANO or TENOR recorder. A very brief but accurate introduction to music notation before jumping into Lesson One. If you've ever had some exposure to music notation and sight reading, this is plenty, but if you've no experience with it, another source may be advisable. After that, however, this small volume is excellent. It starts of simply and clearly, and builds on that.to give one a solid foundation on which to build further. Excellent choices of music. It is expected that a current section be mastered before moving to the next.

fun for adults
i'm an adult bassoonist who recently bought a tenor recorder. enter this book. the pacing is mindful and the material interesting. i really enjoy the pieces and feel that the book does a good job of explaining different techniques as you go. as a bonus, there are lots of duets throughout and a bunch of ensemble pieces at the very end. i'm very happy with this purchase. (thank you, Sarah the recorder player from youtube)

I absolutely love this book!
Perhaps it's just because my music background started in band learning the trumpet and trombone, but this book is beautifully condensed and has practically everything I could want to learn about my tenor recorder. It has a fingering chart, trill chart, history of and how to care for the recorder, and some pretty challenging pieces at the end. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is wanting to learn the soprano or tenor recorder!

I recommend this book!
I ordered this book hoping to learn to play the Tenor Recorder. This book arrived in perfect condition and is very well organized. It starts with the most basic notes and has different exercises using those notes, and gradually introduces new notes and exercises. My only problem is that I already knew how to read music from my younger days in band, and I found myself rushing thru the exercises. That made it difficult for me to remember the fingerings of the new notes. I suggest practicing each exercise, regardless of how simple it may seem. This is to help your fingers remember the notes.I would highly recommend using this book if you're learning to play the soprano or tenor recorders. This book is NOT for the alto or bass recorders.

The recorder method book for soprano or tenor is in very good condition. Arrived on time , had a quick browse & seems to be as promising as other reviews. I am an adult beginner teaching myself the (tenor) recorder. Glad that I bought it, thank you Sarah on YouTube.

Excelente material. Fiquei muito satisfeito com a compra.
O livro superou minhas expectativas. Material consistente, claro, bem apresentado e com excelente valor didático. Recomendo a todos que estejam se aventurando pelas notas através da Flauta Doce.

Good, but not aimed at the solo student.
A good large sized book, with very clear text and music notation, it takes the beginning student all the way from the first notes to complex Baroque sonatas. There are some lovely pieces for playing solo, but most of the pieces are written for two pupils or for pupil and teacher. For students with a teacher I'm sure it's an excellent book. But for the recorder student without a teacher, a method book clearly intended for solo study would be much more suitable than this, although I'd still recommend it as supplement.
