Excellent book everyone should read
This is a very well written and researched book. The author does a great job analyzing the three faiths. Books like this should be read by everyone to promote more religious tolerance as well as unity among humanity.

An Amazing Research!!
When you start reading this book, you will notice from the first couple of pages that this book is the result of many years of research, and that the author has a broad and a deep knowledge of the three faiths. I recommend it for everybody who is seeking the truth.Thanks.

Awesome book!
Good quality book, printed on nice smooth papers and put together well. The print is clear and that makes it easy to read. Just like any other investment in life... take care of your things and it will last you for a long time. We have had this book for couple of years and enjoy reading it everytime.

Don't purchase! Pages missing
I purchased this book in August to read during the holidays when I would have time to devote to the content. The main problem with the book is that it ends abruptly on page 255 in the middle of a sentence. I contacted the publisher and was told I the book had 284 pages and I would have to contact the Amazon third party distributor. Contact was made with the distributor and I was told there was nothing they could do since 30 days had passed. When a book is purchased it is not always read immediately and the distributor has a responsibility to ensure that the book is complete. This is my second negative experience with a Third Party Amazon seller. BEWARE OF AMAZON THIRD PARTY SELLERS!!!!!!!

Well researched, well written, but at times not as objective as it could have been
I want to preface this review with the fact that I read this book as part of a world religions class. I chose this particular book because I want to learn more about the three Abrahamic faith. My approach in reading this book was purely from an objective point of view and looking for, as the title suggest, some similarities and contrast. In my search for this subject matter, I settled on this book because Dirks, the author, has a Harvard background. In addition this, he has a Christian background, but is now a Muslim. As I began in the first few chapters, I learned a great deal. Dirks' research and references are exact, and his interpretation and explanation are very well written. However, the first few chapter are more with their similarities. As the book progressed to the middle chapters, and began to delve more into the contrasts, I felt as though some objectivity was being lost. I respect his position and beliefs, but my purpose in reading this book was to be informed. It could be argued that I infact was being informed. To an extent I truly was. My eyes were opened a little more to how Muslims and Islam are at times misunderstood. If that is your purpose, to learn more about Islam and how it is misunderstood in America then this book might be an excellent read for you.The book's structure and chapter titles are perfect for observing similarities and contrasts between the three Abrahamic faiths. My complaint is mainly that during the contrast sections of this book, Dirks tends to point out flaws in Christianity and Judaism and then point out only the positive in Islam. To a degree, I am fine with Dirks approach and I never had an issue with seeing the flaws he pointed out. I just felt as if they were one sided. I don't want to get into any religious argumentsof right and wrong so I don't think that it would be appropriate to point any of such instances here. As I said I wished to gain objective knowledge of the three Abrahamic faiths and would have appreciated a more balanced approach. I just felt when I was reading this book, that certain points and facts were being cherry picked to make a point that ended up being very slanted. One example of this is a quote from one of the referenced religious text where a fine for an act was stated. Dirks translated the amount of the fine in American dollars, and in doing so made the fine and the person being fined appear cheap. The relative poverty of those times by the majority of people cannot possibly be translated into today's currency and remain true reflection of what money and life was like several centuries ago. With all of this being said, I liked the book and was informed. It is a great stepping stone to read further books about the three Abrahamic faiths because of all of the questions Dirks raises with his at times less than objective points. His point of view was interesting, but if you seek historical knowledge without cherry picked points and interpreted views then look elsewhere. Then again, seeing things from his point of view is still invaluable.

Very disappointed, sorry that I wasted my time and wish ...
This book was really slanted towards one particular religion and I was looking for an unbiased comparative analysis of the three religions. Very disappointed, sorry that I wasted my time and wish I could get my money back.
