I put fresh blueberries in my batter and the blueberry remnants are really caked on. Does anyone have any tips for cleaning this off?

Okay, this is going to sound a bit weird, but it reflects my solution to the same problem. Leave the waffle iron on until the blueberries, or what ever fruit you have added dries out completely and thoroughly. Then cook a fruitless "sacrificial" waffle. Presto chango when it pops out, a clean waffle iron remains. I view this as a kind of a self-cleaning "feature". The next question is whether or not to eat the sacrificial waffle.
