This edition of Bach's work is well printed, well edited, well annotated, and and the CD makes learning a lot easier. I recommend this version with the CD to any student who wants to learn.

Play and listen...the CD is perfect!
I am especially fond of this selection of Bach's music. This is the first time I've purchased a book with a CD. I panicked at first because I couldn't get the CD to play in my computer, but after wiping it off and trying a couple times, it finally played. AND BEAUTIFULLY!!!!!! Each song on the CD is in order of the songs that appear in the book. The best thing: it's only piano!!! No other instruments are in the CD. Just a lovely piano!!! I am buying as many of these as I can!! EXTREMELY good value! (Note: the CD itself is not that long....but does cover every song in the book.) 10 stars, for sure!!!!

Accessible for Intermediate Players
I really like this collection for intermediate students. The ornaments are clearly spelled out, along with a more detailed description of each in the preface. The suggested fingerings work reasonably well. As for the accuracy of the recordings, I think they work well enough to introduce new pianists to the music and style of J.S. Bach. The tracks reflect exactly what is printed in the sheet music so that students hear exactly what they are to play, and I think that is all that matters for this level of playing. The selected works in this collection include the most popular ones, like Minuette in G and Musette, which are the ones I usually start my students off with, and of course, the ornaments can be ignored for beginning-intermediate students. Overall, I really like this collection, and I highly recommend it.

Enjoying it!
The person I bought this for called me to tell me how much she is enjoying playing through it. She has many of these songs as a student (years ago) but had forgotten the joy that she always felt when she played these memorable pieces. She also said this particular edition is also quite nice, but I didn't get any specifics on that point.

Bach Revisited.
Enjoying this book very much. The CD it came with is ok too. Only the Prelude in C major is weird. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys learning Bach.

The CD is a really useful aid
These pieces are quite easy to play and are useful for some basic site reading practice. It is really useful to have the CD to hear how they should be played. It does not of course contain all of the pieces that Bach put together for Anna Magdalena.

Selections vary from beginning to advanced player, includes fingering, and performance advice. Nice collection!
Trying to find a complete Anna Magdalena's notebook proved frustrating; my last copy disappeared and combing through music shops and Amazon showed no full editions readily available, although there were quite a few selections from the Notebook in volumes like this one. Pretty much randomly, I ordered this edition because it was in stock, and I am pleasantly surprised! To start with, while missing a few pieces from the Notebook, there's enough here to keep any player happy. Secondly, there's an excellent opening section that explains how to interpret some of the pieces and their markings, showing how to play various parts properly, and helping teach you the correct ornamentation. I found this section extremely interesting and useful. Finally, there's complete fingerings on all the scores, both hands, which again is very handy. There's a CD in the book too, which plays through all the pieces. While I've played most of the pieces int he Notebook before, I haven't done them all, so listening to them with the CD while following the score was a great way to get a feel for the piece, and cut my learning time considerably. There's quite the range of pieces from the Notebook here, too, suitable for all levels of player. There's a few simple pieces for beginners, who can feel their way through the pieces a bit at a time, and there's plenty of intermediate pieces for sight reading practice and also for performance. Finally, there's a few quite-complex pieces for the advanced player. Yes, there are some pieces missing from this anthology that I wish were included, but overall there's enough here to keep everyone happy. Nicely done.
