Hello, Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle

I had to re-purchase this book because all of the Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books were some of my absolute favorites as a child. I want to start reading the short chapters to my grandson. For anyone who has never read Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle, she bakes cookies for the neighborhood children, let them run wild in her yard and encourages them to dig for Pirate Treasure in her backyard, and she is an absolute master at teaching children lessons through encouraging their bad behavior. The wonderful thing is that most of the moms in the neighborhood know this, so they call Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle, and ask her if she has a "cure" for some obnoxious behavior that their darling child has, such as not wanting to bathe, or saying bad words, or refusing to share with others. Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle's methods are fascinating and basically fool-proof, because by the time the child is "cured", the child himself is disgusted with his own behavior. The book also has illustrations of the cures. Unforgettable stories!!!!!! I highly recommend this book.

I fell in love with the Mrs. Piggle Wiggle books when I was about the same age as my grandchildren. (I believe the first one was written in 1947.) On a recent visit I found that my family had never heard of the series. Every book is a treasure with messages lovingly delivered. (My favorite is The Radish Cure.) I ordered the entire series for my grandchildren's January birthdays. I know these timeless tales will make them more thoughtful children!I am also lucky enough to have known Betty MacDonald's family. All talented.

One of my favorite book so I was excited to buy now for my granddaughter. Perfect for beginning readers.

Honestly, with cures like "whisper sticks" for whispering and "show-off powder" for the corresponding symptoms, this book is hard to beat. It's fun as a parent to read to my little person and he/she (6) loves to read it to him/herself. Understand that there may be some objections from parents regarding the conveyed parental methodology but the magic involved with symptom curing is super fun- and funny!

Bought this for my daughter (started with one, ended up getting all the original ones from Betty MacDonald, not the one co-written with someone else when Betty passed away). My daughter is 10 and needed 5th grade reading level books for AR testing. All three Piggle-Wiggle books fit the bill. She loved them all (and she likes the kind of books like Dork Diaries, Wimpy Kid, etc.). Definitely recommended.

I enjoyed this immensely as a kid in the 1950's and gave three of the series to my 6 year old granddaughter. I thought she might like them but one is never sure how things translate to more modern times. When I asked how she liked them she said "I LOVED them" and told me there was one more Mrs. Piggle Wiggle book she hadn't read yet, so I ordered that one for her too.

It's rare, indeed, to find a character who completely captivates my child (6) and who teaches kindness along the way. Piggle-Wiggle does it all. I enjoy reading to my daughter, but she sneaks off to finish chapters on her own when I'm faced with mundane tasks (oh, making dinner), and I can hear her giggling all the while. Love Betty MacDonald, and I look forward to reading some of her adult tomes.

Love, love, love these books! We have all of them and we had a blast reading these stories. Quite entertaining for children as well as for grown-ups. I even bought a few as Birthday gifts.

I bought the book for my son. But he is only 4 and maybe too small for it. So I read it and I love it.

I grew up on Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle's books and I love introducing other children to these incredible books!
