Should have bought this a long time ago!
My family races karts, and at the end of a race day, we have to get all of the gas out of the tanks.. I had bought some of the cheap $10 plastic fluid transfer pumps, but they always seem to end up cracking or the hoses don't stay in the pump, etc.I bought this mainly because of the metal body and big hoses. I figured it would last longer and pump more in a stroke. The other pumps have hoses that slide into a hole on the pump and they always seem to fly out mid-pump and spew gas everywhere. This pump has barbed nipples that the hoses slip over, which is already more secure, but I may safety wire them just to be sure they never come off. It works brilliantly! It's really big - like 2 or 3 coke cans stacked on top of each other. Because of its size, it's a bit cumbersome at times, but it does a fantastic job getting fluids from one place to another.

just OK
It does what it is supposed to do, but it gets hard when trying to transfer tranny oil, which it is not thick. After the first use, transferring 13 quarts of tranny oil into my truck, the pump started leaking from the inner seal. That's the main reason why I'm not giving it more stars. If I have to buy another pump, it won't be this one. Although it works fast, it is hard to use. It got me tired, and I'm not a small weak boy. For the money paid, it's just ok.

Well made unit
Great pump for moving liquid in hard to reach areas. Put on any length of hose and it moves a lot of liquid, quickly. As others have noted, had to purchase new tubing as the original is kinked from being folded for shipping but the unit works as advertised.

Great Heavy Duty Hand Pump
I read all the reviews on this pump and the Bad ones are way off. It is made with solid steel construction with a large transfer vollume per stroke. Replace the kinked hosing with new hoses and the pump will preform even better. Two hand pumping of water is no problem for my bad shoulders(Both have been dislocated one many times)If you allow some air to get sucked up it's even easier to pump. If you need one hand operation or need to pump a large quantity you can easily construct a foot rig with a couple pieces of wood or lengths of pipe and a couple of U bolts.

Hand Pump
This item seems to be high quality not like the cheap pumps out there that only last a few times. I have some from the tool stores and they just don't last. This pump is strong and well built. Only issue is they need to include how to do maintenance on it to maintain the pump and how to clean it after each use.

Waste of time and money, poor design and manufacture
Bought this pump for water transfer. Extremely disappointed and will not use the pump. During its initial try it immediately leaked at the suction and discharge connections at the pump end. The design is to have washers inside and outside the connection fittings where they attach to the pump end. It was assembled with both washers on the outside. That caused that leak. Unfortunately the piston seal also leaks. This results in water leaking to the pump handle side of the piston were it then leaks out of the body though the piston handle rod. You would be in trouble if you used this pump for a flammable liquid. The check valve springs and the check valve balls in the discharge and suction fittings are plain steel. They started to rust right away on the unit I purchased during the period I was trying to trouble shoot and fix the leaks. I would expect those valves to become nonfunctional fairly quickly. Knowing that poor material choice for a critical component I expect to find the pump barrel itself to also quickly rust thus further compromising the piston seal. I'll never know because I cannot use this pump at intended where it leaks through the piston.I would say this pump is suitable only for air transfer.

It sucks literally.
Tried it with gas and of course it didn't work. Gas went everywhere. However, the instructions do say that you can't use it with gas or light viscous liquids. I wish their advertising had said this and I wouldn't have ordered.

Good for changing motor oil.
Works reasonably well for pumping motor oil out of engine, instead of removing drain plug. Just takes some muscle power.

Poor packaging puts permanent kinks in tubing
A good, very solid looking product but made practically unusable by the packaging which wraps the tubing up so tight the clear plastic tubing is left with 5 kinks, which, of course, will limit or even stop flow. I plan on returning, unless I can buy new tubing locally.....
