This Shows Why Charles Adams Was Such An Amazing Cartoonist.
I am a big fan of Charles Addams. This is a book of his cartoons about New York City. There are some I have never seen. The forward and introduction in the book speak of Adams connection to New York.I have six books of his cartoons. This is one of my favorites. The cartoons are both in black and white and color though the majority are black and white. They are large enough to be enjoyed. The pages are made of strong paper. The hardcover book is well made and feels good in my hands. It is a quality book.I will never tire of Charles Adams cartoons. They all bring a smile to my face.

Enjoyable book for fans of Charles Addams.
I had been thinking about getting books of Charles Addams work for some time. I was turned on to his work back when The Addams Family movie came out in the early 90's. They released the "My Crowd" collection as a promotional tie-in at that time, so I bought it. I really enjoyed those cartoons and wanted more, but this was pre-Amazon days, so if the books weren't on the shelf of the local book chain, I was out of luck. So, I had to wait a while. When I saw this book had been released, I decided to get it along with "Addams Family Evilution". Glad I did. This book is laid out well. Hardcover, glossy pages and about one cartoon per page. There are a few multiple frame cartoons, but mostly single frame pictures. The large majority are in the original black&white and a small handful are in color. On the last few pages, there is a listing telling you the name & page number for the cartoon and when it was released. The vast majority were released in The New Yorker magazine with a few released in other sources and some that have never been released until now.It should be noted that the City of New York is the primary star and subject matter of this book. All cartoons are either set in the city or feature the famous New York City skyline. If you're looking for The Addams Family, you might be a little disappointed. They do appear in a small handful of cartoons in this book, but only when the city is featured as a backdrop. Even so, the cartoons are still funny and really showcase the offbeat and sometimes dark humor of Charles Addams. The humor can be fairly subtle at times, but sometimes half the fun is trying to figure out the gag.If you're a fan of New York City or, like me, a fan of Charles Addams' work, you will enjoy this book a lot.
