I love this book

Well written

This a good introduction into watercolor. Charles Evans provides thorough information on subjects ranging from equipment needed to composition. This book is aimed at the beginning watercolor artist. The book is for a person who is able to draw and is seeking to learn the quirks that exist with watercolor. There should be more instruction regarding value and perspective. All in all this is a very good book to get the budding watercolorist started in the art.

I picked this book purely because of the author's name--I knew someone by that name. The book is an OK beginner book. Nothing special about it to me.

It's OK

After drawing for years I decided to get into watercolor but had no idea where or how to start. This book answered both those questions. It takes you through step by step and makes it easy and fun to both learn the medium and create a pretty decent painting in the process. I am enjoying working through this book and would recommend it to anyone who wants to a good starting place. By the way, this book also taught me that you don't have to draw for years before you pick up a brush, so don't be afraid to jump into this and start having fun!

The most frustrating aspect of most art books that give you projects to follow is the scarcity of illustrations, leaving you to wonder how the artist got from picture one to picture two and then to the finished item.Not so with this book, very well illustrated it takes you step by step from start to finish, it is the next best thing to having the artist at your elbow.The Saturday exercises are fun and, most important for the budding artist, they produce work you would not be ashamed to show your family.Better still the Sunday painting produce works you should not be embarrassed to show your friendsIf you are starting in watercolors and you only purchase one book on the subject this has to be it.Buy and Enjoy

This book is a very informative and helpful to both beginners and the more experienced painter. I have been painting with watercolours for many years and still found much of interest in this well produced publication.
