This is the fourth answering machine I've had, and the second electronic one (my first two used tape). It's the easiest one to use I've ever owned: the voice prompts talk you through the various ways you can set it up -- how many rings before it picks up, do you want an audible alert, and many other options. Just read the instructions, then listen to the voice. Don't worry about whether using an answering machine is "old-fashioned." It's simple, trouble-free, and inexpensive.

The only thing I was disappointed in with this answering machine is that the write-up said it verbally gives you the phone number of the caller. Yes, it will, but only if you have caller ID with your phone. That was the selling point that determined my choice, but I don't have caller ID. Nonetheless I am very happy with my purchase. I like the fact that it gives the time the message was left. The volume is good so that I can hear the caller's voice at the other end of my apartment. The messages are very clear, and my announcement message, according to a friend, is also very clear. She could not understand most of my announcement on my old machine, so now she knows exactly when to start her message. For anyone needing to get their messages when away from home, this has the option for doing that as well. I also like the fact that it is white.

This is my second one of these machines. The first last several years and finally gave out so I bought another one. Works good. Easy to use. I would recommend this product.

This product is great! Very easy to set up. Does exactly what I need it to do. I get messages. It is saved until I delete them. Works great.
