Smartkey is awesome, saves time. The locks are modern and substantial in feeling.
The Smartkey feature is fantastic because it makes it easy to DIY rekey all of the locks in seconds. There's no need for a locksmith or anything (looking at you Schlage, trying to find matching Schlage locks to redo a whole house would take forever). However, do note that the Smartkey instructions are terrible because they're generic and do not desribe the correct rekey procedure for this Spyglass lock.I had to turn the key all the way right, then stick in the tool for the cylinder to click. Then I was able to rekey it.That's really minor though because the install and rekey process is super easy once I got the first one down. 10 minutes per lock, and I was able to do 5 doors in under an hour.I used an battery powered impact screwdriver to make quick work of the screws and a regular manual screwdriver for the final torque down. The locks are SOLID and excellent quality. The door levers are thick and heavy solid metal pieces. The hardware faceplates are also thick solid metal. I was surprised at how high quality the metal and finish were. Adding all this up, the feel when turning the door handle feels like a high end quality door lock. Would recommend.

feels well built and looks very attactive
These door handles feel sturdy and appear to be very well constructed with well fitted parts. They feature a lot of cast metal parts where cheaper units have a lot of stamped metal parts. The difference is very noticeable. Installation is a bit more complicated than what is typical of cheap locks, so I recommending reading the instructions. The square shape adds one issue in that if the fitting is miss-aligned in relation to the edge of the door even a little bit it is noticeable. I held a 12 inch ruler along the side so that it was easier to align the base with the edge of the door. That worked well. The other clever but unexpected thing is that the handles are held on with set screws that have to move outward to hold the handle in place. Normally that would require you to true the screw counter clock wise. But they used left hand threads on them. So when you turn the screw clockwise, the set screw moves outward to hold the handle in place. The trick is to ignore the fact that the set screw has a left hand thread and just turn them clockwise to tighten like you would with any other screw. For latches that have keys, it is really easy to use their Smart Key system. Once you understand the process, it takes seconds to re-key these units. I suggest that you keep the old keys so if you want to re-key for some reason you can do so. Overall I am very impressed with these latches.

Nice looking doorknob, easy to install for retrofit
I used this to replace standard circular knobs. I prefer these lever type knobs as they're easier to open and get a grip on. Previously, I tried to use a cheaper knob with hidden screws, but the hidden screws made the mounting more complicated and I would have to drill new holes in the door just to mount the knob. These knobs, on the other hand, while they have exposed screws on the locking side, it makes installation much easier, and the lever hides one of the screws anyway - so I think it's a reasonable trade-off. I ended up returning the cheaper knob and bought two of these. Worth the price. Also, these seem to be pretty sturdy and are made in Taiwan.

Excellent quality, nice modern design
I bought 3 these Baldwin levers to replace 3 Kwikset Vedani levers that were awful. (The entire handle mechanism would twist inside the door and you could never keep the lever level, which drove me nuts!) I didn't notice that Baldwin is a Kiwiset company initially or I probably wouldn't have bought these. They were more expensive than the Kwikset levers they replaced but they are far superior in build. Installation was a breeze and the handles have a nice, firm turn with NO play in the handle. (The Kwikset levers had lots of play in the handle.) These are a nice modern design that is comfortable in the hand. I love the square backing plate; it's a great modern touch that matches our other door hardware and locks. I wish that the backing plate didn't have visible screws on the interior side, but if this keeps the entire assembly from shifting like the Kwiksets did, it's all good.

High quality, great value.
Opening and closing the door you will feel the quality. Operation is smooth and it almost feels like a commercial lever. The box weighs 2 lb. 13.8 oz, ...so that tells you something. The lever looks great too, and it's an excellent value. You get more than you pay for in this case. (compared to Big Box)My husband installed 4 of these in our house and he said they were easy to install. My husband has now installed 4 of these and reports that they were a breeze to install and he had zero issues with any of them. You just can't go wrong.

Nice lever - smartkey (initially) didn't work for me
(UPDATE: I was about to reinstall yet another lever (different brand), but decided to give the Baldwin one last go. Amazingly, I was able to fix my Smartkey problem by wiggling the key, while simultaneously pulling it in and out of the lock AND trying to turn the key. It finally gave and the cylinder rotated. Then I was able to reset the lock with the smart key tool. My old key now opens the lock. I'm still docking a point because it was so finicky. I need to go return the second door lever that I bought. Also, the instructions are surprisingly unclear, which doesn't help.)Original review: So disappointed. It's a nice solid lever, and I've heard Baldwin is better quality than Kwikset (my prior brand). Looks great, too. Problem is, I was trying to carefully follow the smartkey directions, and now neither key works. I'll need to return the the product. My old key had the right grooves and slid in smoothly in, but after turning it (during the re-key process), the cylinder rotation simply froze, and neither key could unfreeze the it. I can only manually lock it from inside now. troubleshooting says I may need to have it professionally rekeyed. A brand new lock? No way am I paying for that.If you're hoping to use Smartkey functionality, make sure your old key is style kw1! I'm 95% sure mine was, because it definitely looked the same, and Kwikset typically uses that style. But it still didn't work.

Great quality, feels solid when operated (german-car kind), one of the easiest to install so far.
