Took me one day to put together a long lighting wire.Sockets were worth.

We used 1/2" black malleable pipe fittings to build wall sconces. 1 1/4" x 1/2" reducers fit these sockets perfectly. The sockets are hard plastic and come with no instructions, but are pretty easy to figure out (hello youtube). I am comfortable using them with LED edison bulbs. I might be cautious with incandescent bulbs that get hot. All in all, you can't beat the price and the fit.Quick note, if you use 1 1/4" x 1/2" 90 ell reducers (as we did on the "man" light) , the screw-in wire clamp at the top of the socket will not fit. The wiring screws are tight, but you may want to add some silicone to secure it and allow it to set before final wiring into your lighting design.Tip: once you screw it all together, you can't take it apart without breaking it. The ring goes on and off well... but once the rest is assembled, you can't get it apart without breaking interior tabs.

has a lip that prevents it threading into pipe. if you look at the picture you can clearly see the threads protrude more then the base but not the one I received. the lips can be ground off and made to work but it is laborious.

This product used to be perfect for threading into a 1-1/4" iron pipe fitting for a custom iron pipe light fixture. But sometime in the past year the part changed in the manufacturing. The threaded insert has had a small extra lip added to the top of it so that it will no longer thread into anything.In this photo you can see the old design on the left and the new design on the right. Because of the additional lip on the new design it will no longer thread into anything. Very unfortunate.Also the nut that secures any type of light shade is pretty fragile plastic. Careful when cranking it down. Cracks very easily.

Replaced a socket that my kids broke. Wasn't exactly the same as the original but able to use an extra lock ring from a second socket tómale it work.The price for all of these was still less than if I had gone to a hardware store and bought a single one.Now I gotta figure out what to do with the extras.

Instructions on assembly would have helped. Also, once assembled, cannot be disassembled

I was very satisfied with the quality of this product. It appears solid and sturdy and very suitable for the purpose for which I bought it.

Loved this product. Will use again when needed.
