Japanese New Year's Rice Cake (Osonae Mochi) "Hanayaka" with Daidai Decoration 5.648oz [Japan Import]

I purchased this at a Japanese store. The woman told me that it had a sweet rice cake in it that was eaten to celebrate the New Year. So, my son and I waited until the New Year to eat it. Honestly, I couldn't find a sweet cake. Instead, whatever it was resembled a large, hard piece of plastic. We had a terrible time trying to get it out of the package. And when we tried to cut it... it BROKE like plastic. What's even worse... we decided to taste it, just to see if it was sweet. So we put a tiny piece of it in our mouths... and it tasted like plastic! We even microwaved it to see if it would soften... and tiny sections of it melted like plastic! I honestly don't know if it's because I might've purchased a bad one. (I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt.) But even so... I'd be AFRAID to put something like that in my stomach! This is NOT a product I'd EVER buy again!! (I love their store... just not THIS!!)
