Great call
Like this call a lot its loud for the windy and rainy days, it will cut through the noise with ease. this call takes some work to prepare the surface on. its a pretty good grade aluminum and anodized so scratching the surface takes a little elbow grease. I used a course mesh sanding sheet like for drywall and it worked out great. The wood striker worked, but worked even better after I burned the tip black and re scuffed it with scotch bright pad. the carbon striker is perfect produces a high freq. that is BOOOMING loud and perfect in the rain. once you find the calls sweet spot your in business I get a very nice two note yelp with a nice roll over from one note to the next. holding the carbon striker close to straight up will give a little rasp to the call.

Not as reliable as a slate call
Guess I understood things wrong but I was under the assumption that the metal callers did not need to be sanded. My mistake as the description never makes that claim. Anyway my first few attempts with the call produced some very high pitched yelps. The tone was not reliable in that sometimes you would get a nice clear tone and the next you would sound like a bird with bad congestion. It seems to be really sensitive to how firmly you hold the striker. It did seem to work best when I held on as light as I could. But even then the results were a bit spotty. I am hoping that if I ruff up the surface with something a bit more course than the paper they sent that the tone might be better and more consistent. For now I am going back to my slate call.
