Needed to repair battery post for golf cart- worked great
Had broken battery post on golf cart, used this and a threaded insert to repair. Bit worked great, just have to drill slow in lead and clean the filings out as you go. Tap worked well, again went slow and cleaned as I went. Cart is now going again.

It did its job.
I bought this to change the oil in the PTU of my Ford Edge 2007. It did the job perfectly and cut the threads easily. I changed the oil and closed it with the plug. Excellent!

They are fine, but I think not as sturdy as others out there.
Good product. Good price. But the reason for 4 stars is that I found this one to not last quite as long as some others I purchased at a hardware store. They broke pretty quickly unfortunately. But they did what I needed.

Wow, what a great tool for a great value
Fantastic quality, i was shocked at how well this tap cut. I dont think ive ever had a tap this high quality. No forcing it or cranking on it or any risk at all of breaking it. Drill bit was extremly share and strong as well. Great price and im happy. I bought 2 in case i broke one and will be returning the second. The first one is practically new aftering tapping. Great quality 100%.

The temper on these taps/bits suck!
I had four holes I needed to tap in 1/2" mild steel. I should have just bit the bullet and spent the money on a good tap instead of trying to cheap out on this one. The drill bit wasn't even hard enough to drill through mild steel and had to use a different bit that was 1/64" smaller to get the job done. After drilling out my four holes I tried going back to shave off that extra 1/64" with the bit that came in this kit, and all that happened was the steal marred and flattened the cutting surface of the drill bit. I should have known better than to continue but I foolishly went ahead and used the tap itself. I was able to carefully tap the first hole by backing out after every quarter turn of cutting and clearing the flutes of the metal flakes. I should have stopped there since the tap was flexing a lot (even when stopping every quarter turn of cutting). I got about half way through my second hole (using the same method) when the tap miraculously snapped in half leaving half of the tool still in the hole. I should have known better but I am furious at how terrible the tap performed. If you need to tap holes in plastic, or aluminum, or something softer like sharp cheddar, this product is for you. If you want to use it for actual work look elsewhere. I've sinced purchased some real taps from McMaster-Carr and a tap extractor. I'll never buy another product from this company again. I've learned my lesson. Buy once cry once.

Can't beat the results
This is the first hole I've ever tapped. To say I'm a novice would be an understatement. But I bought the cheapest M6 tap/5mm drill combo on Amazon and threw caution to the wind. I drilled 2 holes in standard 1" wide bar steel from Lowes and then tapped them for an M6 bolt. The drill bit made short work of the drilling. It cut without much pressure and easily ate through the steel. I added a couple drops of oil for cutting fluid just to be on the safe side. I then put the tap in the handle, added more oil to the bit/hole and proceeded to cut threads in the hole. 1/2 turn forward, 1/4 turn back. The tap bit easily and I was left with 2 perfectly tapped holes in my project. My skill isn't what got the job done here, it was the tool. I don't know how this will hold up through the years but for this project, the price was right and the result was perfect.

I feel a little mislead with the company name of the manufacturer being listed as Drill America, and them only listing Miami Florida as their place of business. I was expecting a made in USA drill bit and tap for the price. $20 for made in China tap and drill bit is a of rip off in my opinion.

Update: Read first review underneath but I went to princessauto and got a drillbit for $1.49 that did the whole project with no issue. Tried this tap and it was just as bad as the drill bit, had to go buy a different tap as well. DO NOT BUY! Drill bit is weak and can't drill through anything. I didn't even get to use the tap yet because the drill bit is the worst quality I have ever seen and broke almost immediately. Read the other reviews, many people had the same problem, I shouldn't have ignored all the problems that were listed. Complete waste of $8, DO NOT BUY!! YOU WILL REGRET IT IMMEDIATELY!!
