Braun Series 5 Electric Shaver
This review is written after a few months of usage. For comparison, let me explain that I have been using a razor for shaving and that has always given me a very close shave, but obviously I would often end up with scratches and small cuts. Also I have used the Philips OneBlade and have been very impressed with that especially for the cheap price I paid (£27). I saw the Braun Series 5 shaver for sale at £65 and made an impulse buy to try it out.First impressions were that it looked good quality and easy to operate. I shaved with it and found it was not as close as razor shaving, but it was satisfactory enough for attending the office for work, and definitely good enough for video calls when working from home. I did receive a couple of tiny scratches on my first few shaves, but certainly nothing at all compared to the razor shaving, or the Philips OneBlade. The Braun shaver struggled with longer hairs, that the Philips OneBlade had no problem, e.g. if I had not shaved for several days. For cleaning, the Braun is easy to clean - the top detaches and can be rinsed under the tap. The hair seems to be almost completely collected within the top chamber. With the Philips OneBlade, I need to clear the sink area of other items before I begin shaving so I can more easily clean away all the hairs that fly everywhere. None of that nonsense is necessary with this Braun shaver. The charger came with a UK style 2-pin plug, i.e. you will need an adapter if you take it abroad, even for countries with a 2-round-pin socket. I discovered in the past with my Philips OneBlade, the European 2-pin socket is not the same as the UK 2-pin socket. I really wish electrical gadget manufacturers would wake up to the 21st century and convert their gadgets to USB charging instead of persisting with these stupid 2-pin 20th century rubbish. So far I seem to be able to do several shaves before the battery recharge warning, and I'm happy with that. Charging is fast enough that it hasn't caused me any problem yet to notice it being too slow.I have now given up razor shaving and although it is not as close as razor shaving, in my case it is good enough, and on the plus side I now rarely get any cuts or scratches. Also I can use the Braun for a dry-shave, e.g. it is great for those days when I don't need or have time in the morning to shave, i.e. at the same time I have a shower. Instead I can now dry-shave later in the day when I need it, although I could do that before with the Philips OneBlade. However compared to the Philips OneBlade, this Braun makes less mess and is a marginally closer shave. It is obviously more expensive than the Philips OneBlade, but by making less mess, the Braun Series 5 is now my preferred method of shaving, and I only use the OneBlade if I've allowed my beard to grow for several days.Do I think this shaver is a good buy? The answer is definitely yes it is a good buy at the price I paid. I would have been willing to pay slightly more (£5-10) if it had USB charging.

Comfortable shave
I have been using S3 for years and as my sixth was expiring had to think of options. Trouble is that the NiMh battery only lasts so long and after the cost and hassle of replacing them and the new foil it's been easier to get new, great for Braun but not the planet! Tried the S5 now you can get it at a lot less than the outrageous RRP and it has a lithium battery.Very good. Shaves a lot closer and faster and lasts more than 2 weeks on a charge. Shame replacement foils are even pricier. Now lusting after an S9 but I'm not a lottery winner.

Excellent shave, easily done, nice to handle about 9 inches
The shave was something you just worked at. It was almost as good as a blade ans resulted in a nice smooth face with no nicks and operated quite silently. The cleaning was very easy - I opened it up and surprisingly nothing there!! So I didn't have to use the brush provided nor wash it, which I could. The only drawback was the continental 2 pin plug which didn't charge plugged into to bathroom shaver unit. However, it did charge nicely when plugged into a 3 pin to 2 pin adapter. I like the built in battery which saves wires while I shave. I had a previous version of a Braun shaver which worked quite well but had to be used with a plug in wire. The new Braun shaver replaces my Phillips 5000 shaver which didn't shaver very well despite getting new cutters. Get a Bruan Series 5 shaver and you won't regret it!

Average Product
Certainly not expensive. Shaves well enough. However shaver head has only lasted 6 mths. I do not have heavy growth. Heads are expensive to replace compared with cost of shaver and I would expect a head to last a year from any shaver. Not impressed.

Braun S5 is a must buy !
This Braun S5 is one of the best razors I have ever had.I am in my late 70s and have quite a tough bristly stubble every day but 3 minutes every morning with the S5 (dry shave) gets rid of the lot, no stray hairs or little bristles left just a smooth face.Very comfortable to use and very low noise. Battery life is looking good so far.Highly recommended

Electric shaver
Given this a few goes now and if you're anything like me, and hate Shaving, then an electric shaver seemed to be the way forward. Got this on sale, but RRP is £150. Not worth £150 that much I can say. I got it for £60. Is it worth £60 🤔 if you want a quick shave just to tidy up, then it's fine, but it's no good for a complete shave and anything more than two days of stubble, then you're wasting your time. I now wet shave if I'm going out and want a proper, close shave with a razor blade. Its handy in the morning or in the evening for a freshen up and that's it. It misses quite a lot, especially round the jaw. It's not messy though and I haven't had any cuts, so that's a bonus. In summary, if it's on sale, then perhaps give it a go,otherwise it's not worth the full price.
