... any brand of 'french burnt peanuts' that taste as good as she remembers from her childhood
My mom has long been searching for any brand of 'french burnt peanuts' that taste as good as she remembers from her childhood. At long last, we have found a winner! - She is hooked on these and apparently will be asking me to order them online for her all the time now. My father and brother also enjoyed these peanuts and all seemed to agree they were the best tasting out of the brands my Mom had been bringing home to try. - I have read some reviews that said these tasted bad or stale. Could be they got a bad batch? ..which is unfortunate and I hope that doesn't happen with any that I purchase. So far of the three bags I have sent to my folks, all have been good ..perhaps TOO good. :)

Really fresh and delicious...but beware...
I made the huge mistake of trying something 'new' here. Ipurchased these from Sweet Gourmet more than once andall times had some really fresh, 'perfect' French burnt peanuts. Then tried another brand (Farleys & Sathers--also on amazon) where I thought, 'ok, theseMUST be just as good and they are in smaller individual bags. I was deadwrong!! Have opened 4 bags now (single serving ones) and not only is the colora very gross pink....(FRENCH BURNT PEANUTS ARE NOT PINK!)They tasteTERRIBLE...AND NOW I'm out the money as I'm not eating any of these....so doyourself a huge favor and get these peanuts here from Sweet Gourmet...youwill find they are just what the doctor ordered!! And no, I don't work for SweetGourmet, but trust me, they sell great candy!

So Fresh! So Good!
I began craving these a couple of weeks ago, so I decided to purchase a couple of bags. First of all, unless you want a six month supply of these things, one bag is more than enough to last you at least a month and a half. They arrived on time, were very fresh, and tasted just as good as the ones I ate when I was younger. (I grew up on the ones made by Brachs Candy) I can't stop eating them and so I recommend that you do not open to eat any until after you've eaten. They are very addictive and will cause you to lose your appetite once you get done stuffing our face with them.

Using sub-quality peanuts
The peanuts, a bit less than 3/4ths are not fresh, taste bad and are dark brown. There is no burnt layer either and I broke a lot in half to check.More like "surprise, not burnt peanuts". Only took two pieces like these to leave a bad taste in mouth.Haven't had these in years and will look for the Ferrara brand. I've never gotten bad candy from sweet gourmet before. Sad.

Good flavor but a little stale.
I used to love French Burnt Peanuts from a different company but they got harder and harder to find until they were not available any more. These were good but a little on the stale side. If that's going to be all that's available, so be it.

Would not buy this again
I would not buy this again. The candy has a slightly bitter aftertaste (probably from the food coloring.)About 40 years ago on my mom's birthday, my dad bought her a birthday cake. The icing was white with red roses. My whole family remembers that cake because the cake was inedible due to the icing. The aftertaste in this candy is very reminiscent of that icing (just not as bad).Other than that, the candy was the perfect crunchiness.

Stale and Inedible
I don’t usually like to bother with reviews, even if a product isn’t exactly what I expected, but with these, I felt I had no choice. They were terrible. Despite still having months left til their printed expiration date, they arrived stale, hard, and nigh impossible to chew, just trying to eat one or two left me with a sore jaw and regret for the wasted money.
