Great for kids and adults too!
We're currently reading this with our children, a few pages each night. The children are enjoying it and learning about " the man that is on multiple walls in the house". As an adult I'm enjoying learning more about Malcolm's childhood and upbringing.

I purchased this book for my 8 year old great grandson to see what a great strong man Malcom was. Hope to find more inspiring books for girls also.

Share the love of this strong family in this artfully told and beautifully illustrated book.
This book is so beautifully illustrated and it tells the story of Malcom’s childhood in a way that enables the reader to feel all the love and commitment to knowledge and justice that his parents instilled into the DNA of their family. It doesn’t shy away from the horrors that were inflicted on his family, but it talks about the burning of the family home, the loss of his father and the separation of the children from their widowed mother alongside the beautiful qualities of strength and resilience and love in the family in such a way that it feels balanced for a young reader.

Great read
I enjoyed the read. I will be reading this for my k-5 grades for black history month. I am certain not many of them know who Malcolm X is. Now they will have some insight into how he became the Malcolm X of the movement.

Excellent book
This is an excellent book; beautiful illustrations and wonderful storytelling. Great introduction for my 7 year old niece and 10-year-old nephew to our beloved Malcolm X, and also white supremacy.

A Must Children's Book, and No Responsible and Loving Parent Left Behind
This is a wonderful piece of art collaborating with non-fiction. A credit not only to it's author, but sensitive to the early socialization of all children everywhere. Kudos to you Ms. Shabazz, for your father, would truly be proud of you, for fulfilling the need of and for responsible parenting, in the form of a children's book. My children are all grown-up now, but I have bought copies for them, for my grandchildren to enjoy. The beauty of a children's book to captivate not only the chid's mind, but the responsible parent(s) as well, Thank You so much!Respectfully,DCAdams

We love the lexicon, powerful messages that both by 5 year old and 9 year old understood. We read the book often over and over for inspiration. Illustration is beautiful, I see how my children are mesmerized by details, life like.

Beautiful book with great illustrations
Beautiful book with great illustrations. Some words/expressions might be too difficult for young children (in my opinion), but overall it's a nice book.
