Excellent focus on communication
From the introduction comes this incredibly ambitious goal for a 55 minute read combining Biblical knowledge, psychiatric information, and first hand experience. I hope they can even come close to achieving it. My thoughts on the text will follow the quote after I finish reading it. "Your reading this book is a dream come true for me because I know it will be a great handbook for helping someone who has experienced trauma. It has everything you need to act as a healing force in the life of someone who is in deep unresolved pain or who is reacting to the past rather than responding appropriately to the present."A disclaimer: I read psychology books for fun, among a variety of other genres. I enjoy learning, but am often frustrated and disappointed when said texts just don't get it.This one primarily gets it. That's refreshing, and made it a pleasure to read. The focus is a solid blend of open, caring lines of communication blended with psychological studies - recent enough to acknowledge the difference between types of PTSD - and the promised Biblical knowledge. It's not afraid to cite a variety of resources, and as the recurring theme states, use the ones that work best for your needs, which may change moment to moment. PTSD is a fickle beast. There is a disappointing sentence or two that seems to state that if someone wants to get better, they can. Tragically, that's not always the case, and I'd hate for someone struggling to feel less than worthy reading that brief section.

Very informative
I learned a lot reading this book, and actually stopped to google for some of the experts mentioned in it, to listen to them for a while.

Great for understanding PTSD & how to help
Easy to read & great help suggestions. Also shows that PTSD can be caused by an abusive spouse, like mine was.
