I adore these peanuts!
I admit I'm addicted to peanuts, especially jumbo peanuts. I've been eating them after visiting Williamsburg, VA 20 years ago and discovering jumbos for the first time. My previous brand (also on Amazon) had some quality issues last fall so I tried several other brands (5 others), and found a winner in Royal Oak! I used to get the lightly salted but the doc said to avoid extra sodium. Now I eat these jumbo unsalted from Royal Oak exclusively just about every day and actually prefer them to the salted ones. They are packed with real authentic nutty flavor, and each peanut half has a very satisfying crunch. I won't go back to any previous brands ever.

"Jumbo?"
Good flavor, A really nice crunch (hard) that I love about Virginia peanuts. But overall, I would call them "jumbo."

Crunchy and tasty
I loooove peanuts. I have tried a few different suppliers. This is my favorite. The peanuts are extra crunchy, are very tasty and are large. My last batch, I had fewer whole nuts than my previous batch (more halves), but there were still a good plenty. I just ordered some more, cause I have not found anything that I prefer, even with more expensive ones.

Best Peanuts Ever
I have tried a lot of different brands of peanuts but these are the BEST by far.

A Little Disappointing
I usually get my peanuts at Costco, but for some reason (they will never tell you - it's a big secret) my local Costco has been out of any of the usual peanut types and brands for the last few months. So, off to Amazon for a quick look....The Royal Oak Unsalted seemed to get good reviews with only a few negatives that the processed peanuts were extremely hard. I found the hardness OK, and but maybe a bit on the hard side, but not even close to the jaw breaking comments that were posted, But, all that said.....I didn't get any peanut taste. I remember opening other peanut jars/containers and getting hit with a swift smell of freshly roasted peanuts. I notice in the description nothing about ROASTED, just Virginia, so if I've made an assumption that the process was freshly roasted - my BAD.So, in my NON EXPERT opinion: the peanuts seemed over processed/roasted/hard and dry and definitely lacking ANY significant peanut smell or taste, in fact they have NO taste at all. I understand I might have gotten a bad batch and I would be happy to try them again, but I bought two cans - that's 80oz, over 5 pounds of peanuts.....it will be a while before I need to re-order. However, I'll write Amazon and see what their policy is on returning these. If it was Costco, there would absolutely NO hesitation and they would refund my $$. One last issue, the expiration of the two cans I received were August 2013.....that's only 5 months from now, I would of expected a longer shelf life. The packaging was very good and the lids were resealable.Suggestion: usually when I buy large quantities of peanuts i portion them out and use my food vacuum sealer to make smaller packages (about 10-12oz). This way they keep fresh for a much longer time, and the whole can isn't exposed to air every time I open it to take a few.

Excellent unsalted. Really.
I was skeptical about ordering the unsalted version. But I have long since cut back on salt use, and I have become very sensitive to foods that are salty. These are very flavorful and I am surprised I do not miss the added salt. I looked at google maps at the company's address, looks like a real farm surrounded by fields, not just some warehouse for processing. These are well packed in a sturdy tin with the vacuum sealed by stiff foil under the lid. I have decided to get more via subscribe and save. I do a fair amount of weight training, so these are a good source of protein (25%, more than any other nut, though this technically not a nut but a legume), and the oil within the peanut is relatively healthy (mostly mono- and polyunsaturated fats). You just have to watch out for calories, they are rich, even the company web site suggests 1 oz per day, not by the handful. I use an expresso cup to not over eat them. They sure are good.

Very good VA peanuts...
I keep, and eat, Virginia Peanuts all the time. I usually eat a handful for snack. I prefer the unsalted variety because I consume enough sodium from other sources as it is. These peanuts are larger, and tastier, than what I would find on a container of off-shelf (or vending machine), say Planters, Toms, etc.. They are dry-roasted which removed practically all the moisture in the kernel. I find them crunchy, my preference, but not annoyingly hard to chew. My personal experience with these peanuts is that they neither give me gas, nor a peanutier breath. I still have a good set of choppers so biting and chewing these peanuts is a pleasure and not an adventure. I live in Virginia and in my biased opinion Virginia peanuts are the best on this good planet.

Fantastic Blistered Peanuts
This is not the first time I have had these peanuts and they are delicious! The way they are roasted makes them so crisp and wonderful. My minus one star is because I was shipped salted rather than unsalted nuts. Like I said, totally delicious but, folks, pay attention. I'm not supposed to be getting that much sodium in my diet!!
