On the thick side
Tried this as a drum set snare head. It plays and sounds a lot like an Evans HD Dry, which I consider too muffled. Not versatile, limited tuning. The clear with dot is an attractive draw though, especially with snare drums that have "pretty" interiors.

Great sounding head!
Great sounding head! Just a heads up....the logo is a little different than the picture but otherwise it's the same clear head as in the pic. Looks amazing and really cool that you can see the inside of the snare drum with this head on it. It's louder and brighter than a coated head and has a marching band field drum tone to it but still suits a drum kit and works great on a snare. I use it on my 14 x 7 snare drum and i get a nice deep snap from each hit. It sounds consistent with tone and volume no matter where on the drum you strike. One thing I had to overcome with this head was that it has a little bit of overtone but that can easily be taken care of with a moon gel, buzz kill, or some other dampening method. Excellent drum head and the sound of it stands out from others
