I purchased mine in December of 2006. The battery just died. Luckily a wonderful person posted the directions to change the battery in another review. Otherwise I don't know if I would have figured it out.I've used it every week that I've owned it. It is not waterproof as I found out when an in-law washed it by immersion... but it dried out and continued to work. I will probably spend a lot more than this on my next digital thermometer in order to get a faster read-out, but this has been very useful. And in the meantime it tells me what I what to know.

Didn't work. At first, all of the pixels flashed on and off. It wouldn't turn off. After a day or so, it stopped flashing. I assume that the battery finally gave out. Unfortunately, there was no information about the kind or number of batteries it uses and there were no instructions on how to change the battery. I was able to get one side to open but I couldn't get the other side to release so I was unable to get to the battery. I was able to get an RMA from the supplier but the effort and cost to get a refund hardly seemed worth it. Maybe one of these days I'll be able to get it open, change the battery and find out if it was any good. So I bought a mechanical meat thermometer at WalMart.

These were good quality and easy to use.

A good product at a good price if they ship one that works....first one shipped failed to work, but service was fast and trouble free.....final one did work and I'm happy with the product. It does exactly what it is suppose to do..............and was priced fairly

While it's not really "instant," this is a handy and fairly accurate thermometer. It's easy to use, easy to read, easy to clean, etc. I used to use a candy thermometer to test meat temperature -- this is quite a step up!

Fantastic thermometer. Gives almost instantaneous temperature. I ordered this when I overzealously washed my old one and got water in the digital display head. (Don't do that).Only three stars because delivery took close to a month and product arrived after the estimated delivery date range.

The Taylor 508 is very fast and accurate, not to mention reasonably priced. We have had one for years. I did find that after I dropped in salt water, it never worked again. My wife suggested I not do that again..This is an exact replacement. Thank goodness it arrived quickly.

It measures the temperature quickly and is easy to read!
