Truely authentic dashi stock
This is a truely authentic dashi stock which makes a flavorful dashi. The miso soup I make using this dashi stock tastes so delicious and makes me feel like I am back home!

Great dashi for a very reasonable price!
This is great for making easy, healthy dashi. The taste is complex, not overly fishy and really incorporates the dried shiitake and kelp. There are a enough bags to make gallons of stock but convenient enough to make a few cups for easy miso. No added msg is a bonus. The bags won't tear or open when boiling. The resealable package is thick and does not allow the scent of the ingredients to escape and helps keep the product fresh. This is a staple in my pantry.

Not bad, but not for me.
This is the better and quicker way to make some dashi stock, without all the nasty additives typical of dried powders.I tried two bags (you get 25 with this purchase) initially in around four cups of boiling water then next batch one bag for that amount of water. Both times I had to add water as the ten minute steeping time, even with the pot covered, lost quite a bit as steam. However, the broth wasn't bad tasting just extremely strong; this type of dashi includes smoked sardine and from the moment you open the package to pull a bag that is all you can smell and subsequently taste.A longer way to make a better dashi is using;YUHO Kombu Dried Seaweed Sun Dried No Preservatives No Sand, All Natural 14.10 Oz (7.05 Oz Bag Pack of 2) [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MZTSTD6 ]Kaneso Tokuyou Hanakatsuo , Dried Bonito Flakes 3.52 Ounce (2 Bags) [ https://www.amazon.com/Kaneso-Tokuyou-Hanakatsuo-Bonito-Flakes/dp/B01H6K8FXU ]Unfortunately this also means having to strain stuff out of the stock before adding other ingredients.Soak two 4x10" pieces of the kombu overnight (or at least twenty minutes) in 4-5 cups of water, after wiping down the dried leaves with a damp paper towel. Remove the kombu then add 2 cups of bonito flakes. Bring to a boil and simmer for ten minutes. Strain the stock and begin making your soup.

Crazy good soup base packets!
It’s a must to make a great soup base for ramen and miso soup! I love it even more because it’s all natural ingredients, no chemical food enhancements! I highly recommend this product!

No salt added!!
I’m Japanese and have lived in Japan for 12 years total, so I hope I have a clue as to what I’m talking about. I also have hereditary high blood pressure! (Figures) Having been on low sodium diet for most of my adult life, having a convenient and authentic way to make low sodium dashi is a must, and this is it! Sure, it’s not the best of the best, but neither is my cooking! I highly recommend this for most of your dashi needs.

It’s very easy and quick to use but I felt the flavor was lacking.
Didn’t have enough flavor

Has a full flavor, good if you want to make a lot at once.
Tastes good. I find myself not reaching for it very often because I don't always want to make that much soup, but if you do make a lot, this would be a good way to do it.

Disappointing
These Dashi bags are a big disappointment. The first was boiled in 500 ml of water, per the directions (400-500). The resulting broth was pale and quite tasteless. The bags themselves also have little aroma. A second bag boiled with only 400 ml of water did give a broth with a mild kombu taste. The zipped package does not hold a vacuum, which could be why the product is poor. However, Amazon says No Returns. How can Amazon permit “no returns” even for defective items? At least the package makes interesting reading (with the Google Translate App, camera mode). The first ingredient is sardines, not Bonito flakes as you might have presumed (also bonito, shiitake mushrooms, and konbu/kombu/kelp. No salt or chemical seasonings. The package includes an “oxygen absorber” that is not edible. There is said to be an “expiry date” that may be 0120-39-4524, in case someone can convert.
