Need more
I bought this for a older dog that is shearling bad behaviors from younger family dogs. After just once our dog avoids it like the plague. We don't even have to turn it on. Im getting another for our our rooms. It has a crinkly sou d to the fabric and that helps as well.

So far, so good.
Two week in and our dog has not attempted to get up on the couch. He didn't even have to jump up on it--I pressed the mat to test it out and he got the hint. It takes very little pressure to set this thing off and it makes a continuous noise as long as there's pressure. For the price, I'm very pleased. Folds up pretty flat so it's easy to store when not in use. I also love that this doesn't shock them. The beep is VERY loud but, like I said, gets the point across, for sure.

Really works
These really work; they keep my puppies off of the sofa. I bought another one for the chair.

Actually Does The Job
Had a stray lcat that was constantly using our golf cart seat to relax in during night hours. The seat was always a mess. We laid the activated pad on it and, using our Ring app, was able to see the cat getting the scare of its life when he jumped upon the seat. We still put the pad on the seat but, while the cat still visits our car port, he hasn’t attempted to sit there.

Doesn't work on 9 lb Cat
Update: I received a text from the company today offering a $30 PayPal card if I would remove my negative review. I feel Amazon reviews are extremely important and I will not be editing my rating.Original review: I am wondering if I have a defective unit . Some spots I put pressure on get no reaction at all and other areas the alarm will sound. However I got this to train my 9 pound cat from walking across my black glass top stove. She walks right across this pad and alarm does not sound . I don't think 9 pounds is enough weight to set the alarm off or this unit is defective. When I use my hand on it with a lot of pressure it goes off so I'm guessing if you have a large dog you're trying to keep off your sofa this might work. Small dog or cat not so sure.
