Amazing upgrade for a 2000 GMC 1500
Add this to my dad’s pickup truck and what an amazing upgrade! Finally gives him navigation and Bluetooth. Hands free calling syncs nicely together and the touchscreen is buttery smooth. Super happy with the ease to install and performance

A little slow, but good for the price
I’ve been using this receiver for a while now, and overall, it’s a solid upgrade. The 6.8” touchscreen is responsive and easy to use, and both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto work flawlessly. The sound quality is a big improvement over my stock system, and it has enough power to drive my speakers well. One thing that can be annoying is how slow the Bluetooth is to connect-it takes a little longer than expected. Also, the lack of a physical volume knob is frustrating, especially when using CarPlay. CarPlay doesn’t let you control the volume from your phone, so adjusting it through the touchscreen while driving isn’t the most convenient.Even with those small issues, this is still a great value for the price. If you’re looking to upgrade your car’s audio without spending too much, this receiver is a solid choice.

Wanted CarPlay and this has it!
Needed to replace my 17 year old aftermarket head unit to this one and was just what I wanted. Nothing too fancy or with all the features. The most important thing I wanted was the CarPlay feature and this has it.

Great value
First Kenwood head unit. I'm usually a pioneer fan for headunits, but I was very happy with switching. The adjustable audio function are amazing. Kenwood put some thought into these units. If you like fine tuning your audio this will be perfect. Also the screen is crisp, touch control is flawless. Bluetooth connection is seamless. The android play is pretty cool.Things I don't like - android and apple play needs wire connection. 10 seconds to device to connect and start playing once you start vehicle.

Not even remotely intuitive design
Installation was a snap, I will give it that. Beyond that, once it's in place and on, this thing is awful. And to make matters worse, they only include an installation manual, not a hard copy of the user manual. You have to download that, so there won't be a nice tidy, small copy to stash in the glove box for the poor soul who borrows your car and tries to figure out how the stereo works. Since I spend a lot of time in different rental cars, I am familiar with the way a lot of different touchscreen stereos work. This one is so far from intuitive to program and use that I'm going to guess that anyone who borrows my truck will either need a personal tutorial or at least to have me turn off the radio and leave it off. Unless they get down super close or have really sharp eyes, they won't be able to see the microscopic print for any of the menu "buttons". Since my truck doesn't have a steering wheel control for the stereo, you have to know where to look for the (again - microscopically labeled) volume controls and tuning is only so-so at best. Adding favorite phone numbers means either scrolling through what in my case, is a really long list of contacts imported from my phone (with no "go-to" alphabet list, you have to scroll through the whole thing) or you can enter the number by hand, which means there is no option to put a name with it or even put in the dashes to make it more readable. You'll end up with 5552221212 instead of 555-222-1212 in your favorites list. Time will tell whether or not the android auto or car play features turn out to work as well as I know they can. This unit is over-complicated to the point of absurdity and seems designed specifically to be hard to use. Major disappointment

Nice Stereo for the price, but some issues/limitations
I bought this to replace an older Kenwood I installed in my Corvette several years ago. After doing months of research, I decided on going with one that did not have GPS/Maps built in and choose this one. I am not a professional installer, however, I have installed a dozen or more stereos in various vehicles. That being said, here are some of the issues I found with this one:1) Android Drive is a disappointment. The interface is slow and lacking in some areas. The slowness I contribute to this head unit. Where I find it lacking is when trying to use the Spotify app; you can control some of the features, but you cannot start/stop songs or got the next/previous one; you must use your connected device to this. I tried using the three different devices with the same results.2) Slow response. Whren you want to change between functions (from bluetooth to radio, from current screen to setup, etc.), there is a significant lag. I installed a different model Kenwood in my Camaro and the response is almost immediate when you press a 'button'; with this one you have to wait.3) Only One Bluetooth device. You can only connect one bluetooth device at time. I use a dedicated MP3 with Spotify for all my music and like to simultaenoulsy have it, along with my phone connected to the stereo during road trips. The units im my other vehicles all allow for this; however, this one does not.Overall, the sound quality is good and, if all you are looking for is basic functionality, this is a decent head unit.
