Pricey, but a nice spade
My mother ordered one of these babies and had it sent to me. I gasped when I saw the price... and then I took it out of the packaging. This is a nice ice cream spade; running this across some peanut butter cup ice cream reminded me of watching the folks at Rainbow Cone in Chicago (still a going concern after 90 years) shoveling ice cream and slapping it onto their signature cones.Enough of that - how does it work for me? I take exception to the claim that it's the thing for rock-hard ice cream; I contend that unless you're an Olympic weightlifting champ, you still want to microwave your ice cream for a few seconds before scooping. Other than that, you get a nice sweep of your ice cream container. One minor problem is that it's a little big for a standard pint container, and it's really big for what passes for a pint container these days (14, 12, or some are even only 10 ounces now), so I guess I'll have to start buying, or better yet, making, bigger tubs of ice cream.My other minor problem is that, for this price, I would think it could be made in the US. I get a little edgy about food contact with things made in China. (I know, get over it, it's the way of the world now. But still...)All told, though, this is a nice spade. It's a nice design, a nice weight, and it looks like it will last a good long time.

6/1/16 Great spade! I am so tired of the ice cream scoops going bad in the middle of the scoop. The aluminum bubbling up. This is the answer to that problem. This spade is so nice and easy to use. I am going to get another as we eat a lot of ice cream in our house. I love the retro color on the handle. This is a great quality spade. I was given a discount for my honest opinion.
