The Foldylock is the best option available in bike locks. The hardened steel provides increased security, while the lock's ability to fold into a compact case makes it easy to use and carry. Best of all, the rattle elimination mechanism and the plastic coating on the links ensures a quiet, smooth ride.

Foldylock Bike Lock

Premium design and features and a great trade-off between convenience and security.
After a short time using this product, I have to say I'm very impressed. I think this offers a great balance between security and convenience, and has a few really nice, premium features which make me feel like this is a 5-star product.Pros:-Three sets of keys! It's extremely rare to find a product which includes a third extra key. This is a really nice benefit since you can leave one at a frequent destination for those times when you arrive at your destination and realize you've forgotten your key at home, or if you lose one and need to unlock your bike!- The keys are very high-quality. I've used a lot of different U-locks and the keys are cut from really thin and low-quality metal. I've had several u-locks where the key has been damaged just enough to stop working. These keys are beefy and seem like they'll hold up really well.- The carrying case is well-designed. It bolts (with included hardware) directly into standard water bottle holder mounts and is really secure. It's easy to take the lock in/out of the case. There is velcro-based mounting hardware included too, but I wouldn't recommend using that.- Most importantly, the security. I've used similar folding locks from ABUS and those were just thin, braided metal cables inside a plastic housing. This product is solid steel plates. I think this is a great tradeoff between security and convenience. This isn't as secure as a beefy u-lock (nothing is) but it's way better than a braided cable which is pretty trivial to cut. The benefit this has over u-locks is that it's much longer and more flexible. I have a quick-relase on my front wheel and, depending on what I'm using to lock my bike, it can be impossible to lock both my wheel and the frame with just one u-lock. This allows me to securely lock up wherever I am. And as a benefit, if I'm on a ride with someone else, only one of us needs to carry a lock since this can easily lock two bikes to something.Cons:- Price. This is definitely expensive. You could get a top-rated u-lock for this price and that would technically be more secure. However, given the premium design and convenience, I think this is worth it.- Weight. This thing weighs more than it looks like it would. You can put it pretty low on your frame so it shouldn't throw off your bike's dynamics much, which is good. But, there's really no way around making a lock secure without making it heavy too.- Noise. The advertised 'anti-rattle' feature isn't perfect. Going over smooth surfaces there aren't any rattles from the lock, but bumpy surfaces definitely produce noise. I'm a bit of a rattle eliminating fanatic, so this bugs me, but not enough to dock a star.Overall, this is a great, flexible, medium-high security lock which will let you quickly and easily lock in a variety of situations where a u-lock wouldn't work and a cable lock would be less secure.

Easy to retrieve and store the lock in the bike frame holster
I had a u-bolt lock, but no reasonable way to carry it on my bike. When I saw the frame mount for the Foldylock, I was impressed with how the designers understood the needs of commuter bicyclists. Although the lock is heavy, the lock's coating keeps it from damaging the bike's paint. After a few tries, I found a technique that makes it easy to get the lock about the post and through the spokes with the keyhole facing up. It is as easy to use as my old u-bolt lock. The one annoyance, and the reason for 4 stars, is the designers did not take into account how such a long key doesn't fit in your front pocket when biking. There is no reason for the key to be that long (my daughter has a secure bike lock and the key is much shorter). A shorter key would mean I would keep the key on my house keyring, and thus reduce the chance of loosing the key. With such a long key, I have to treat is differently, remembering to grab it before I go riding.

well built, sturdy, certified silver
I was looking for a folding lck (as opposed to a U shaped) because of fit to my bike's frame. I like this lock better than the Kryptonite equivalent, the joints seem better built and it is a bit thicker. It is thick, sturdy, has a silver certificaiton (not gold, but it is an under $100 lock, I believe it is comparable to the kryptonite or the Abus 6000, they are in the same price range). The carton says it has been tested agaisnt freezing, one of the techniques to break a lock. The certification is apparently used by insurance companies in order to insure bike, i didnt know about it until i bought this locks. I think it is not as good as the Abus 6500 Bordo GRanit, but the latter is almost twice the price, that is why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. It is difficult to know how good a lock is until someone tries to steal your bike, but I think this is a very good compromise of deterrent and price.

Only for pavement riders, not off road
Yah, not so much. Might be a great lock, but it's too large (see picture) to mount anywhere on my bike (won't come out of the holder). While I tried the additional straps, I came home to find the Velcro failed and the rubber holding strap (see picture) broke-are you kidding me? Now it's useless unless I carry it in a pack which defeats the purpose for spending so much money in the first place. Really not happy with this at all.

Sturdy, convenient and well designed bike lock
Foldylock bike lock is an ingenious solution. It is solid steel so it would be difficult to cut through — or at least, really slow down a thief. Yet, it folds into s tight little package and the mount attaches easily to the bike. It’s heavy (but ALL good bike locks are) but they have made it as convenient and as effortless as possible. The key operates smoothly and they provide 3 keys, which is comforting to a person like myself, who tends to lose keys.I bought the longer one. That still isn’t long enough to connect both tires, but there are no perfect solutions in bike security. This one gets close!

Piece of mind
I can now enjoy riding my electric bike to lunch or the beach knowing that it is safe. Wow, what a lock! It conveniently attaches to the bike so it is easily accessible. It is a little more difficult to maneuver than other locks BUT the piece of mind is worth the effort.

Strong
Cannot deny that it is sturdy. It is also heavy and takes up a large chunk of space when attached to your bike frame. May interfere with bottle cage. However, it is dead steady in its sleeve and doesn't make a sound. Locks easily and very securely to standard bike racks and poles. A little clunky to use and maneuver until you get used to it. Being stiff you are limited in terms of creative locking situations. The thing is super sturdy and worth it.

Compact but heavy.
A bit on the expensive side but hopefully it will keep my bike from getting stolen. Maybe a professional thief cannot be stopped, but it should keep out most run of the mill crooks using brute force. Considering light weight version for other wheel. Not very flexible since it consists of bars linked together. Works to pass through one wheel and frame.

Good lock - poor fit on bicycle
This long is strong and solid... but it doesn't fit on my bicycle's water bottle cage location (the 54cm frame leaves too little room to remove the lock from the older), leaving me to use the strap-based attachment solution. This is a less useful configuration for my tastes and is different from other locks of this type that I've used in the past.

Very Good product.
Very good lock. Probably not as strong as a 15mm U-lock but it's lighter, more mobile, and you have a wider range of things to lock it to.

No Velcro straps ?
Wasn’t this supposed to come with the Velcro straps ? Mine didn’t. Unless this is rectified I can’t really give this a good rating.
