Morinu tofu is the very best!
Morinu is the best tofu & this Nigari is definitely a great choice. It has just a bit of flavor that is great on its own or added to dishes. Really glad to find it at Amazon's excellent price!

Mori-Nu Nigari Tofu
Nigari is a form of magnesium chloride. It is used to curdle soy milk into tofu. It produces a medium soft tofu, not a very firm tofu. This tofu goes well in soups, salads and scrambled eggs. I find the flavor pleasing, particularly in egg dishes. I also like getting an additional bit of magnesium, a mineral most of us get too little of, in a pleasant food.

Leave it unless you want to scramble pudding
It does need to be pressed. It is very soft. It doesn't hold up to stir frying or much movement at all. The flavor is good. But overall I don't think I would buy it again, unless freezing and pressing makes a big difference.Edit** After freezing and pressing.. I definitely would Not buy this mess again! It has been a mess from the beginning. I usually buy extra firm mori by this said it was firm, that is a fallacy. I used a tofu press but this stuff practically disintegrated.

I'd forgotten how much I enjoy tofu: delicious and nutritious. And Mori Nu septic packs can be in my cupboard until needed: very convenient

Incredibly silky
Although this is a nigari tofu, the flavor doesn't really come through. The taste is very similar to regular tofu, but it's a high quality product.

If you already enjoy silken tofu this version is definitely worth a try
If you already enjoy silken tofu this version is definitely worth a try. I was curious what the difference was and it's certainly more earthy/mineral tasting than regular silken tofu. I would recommend it more for savory seasoned dishes versus non-savory/sweet or on it's own items. I buy silken tofu to eat raw out of the box as snack because I sincerely love the taste of it plain. So whilst I like this, I probably wouldn't buy this kind every time I order a case of tofu, which is several times a year. The flavor isn't intense, but it's definitely more potent and noticeable than the ordinary variety.
