I think Hendrix live is the way to really see just how amazing he was
all Hendrix fans should have this in their collection. I think Hendrix live is the way to really see just how amazing he was. Jimi Hendrix no one will ever even come close to. The greatest guitarist that ever was. Who can compare to Jimi Hendrix? No one. that I know of..

One of Hendrix's best. Great recording and a hell of a show.

JIMI, Live at IOW Festival, 1970.
This CD is of Jimi's appearance at the 1970 IOW Festival in the UK.It was just a few weeks before his tragic death in London, so it's one of his last live concerts. The album includes the classics- All along the watchtower, Dolly Dagger, Red House and Machine gun. Also on the album are his versions of God save the Queen and the Beatles hit- Sgt Pepper's lonely hearts club band, and more, there are 11 tracks in total.A very good live CD, it goes in my collection along with his album Live at Berkeley, 1970.

Lacklustre NO! Brilliant YES!
I'm amazed at the tone and the content of the two 1* reviews of this CD. I really don't hear Jimi as lacklustre on this recording; given that according to the notes in the accompanying booklet he went on at 3 a.m. and couldn't even see his audience, it's a tribute to his professionalism and ability that he turned in such a great set. His soloing on Red House, to take one example, is just sheer brilliance. As for sneers that his guitar was out of tune, I suspect the truth is that all that you hear is deliberate. If you don't like it, that's a different thing. I can't claim to be the kind of JH fan that tries, or is able, to compare his live performances and conclude which is better than another - surely each live performance flows from his mood and the circumstances of each unique occasion? Anyway, I have no hesitation in rating this 5*, warts and all.

good price good condition
Hendrix is just amazing as usual. Good booklet - better than the other CD that is also live from Isle of White. But the two together are good as only a few tracks overlap.

Essential addition to your hendrix collection
I'd seen this kicking about for ages but have just purchased it. Bowled over at the quality of the package. I've seen the concert on video before and have always found it to be a bit depressing as Jimi seemed to be having a very rare bad night (or early morning!). The quality of this release has really changed my mind. "Dolly Dagger" and "Hey baby" are both brilliant. The playing is superb but the PA system was obviously playing up. If you have the JHE box set and the Woodstock and band of gypsys cds I would thoroughly recommend this. Great value too, double cd and a dvd.

Amazing sound
Was holidaying in the I. O. W. ( Ryde) when Hendrix arrived on the hovercraft - was 15 then but remember it well - a great performance caught here live! - sound quality amazing
